Oh so wasps sold out at Wycombe every week did they?

No. But then Wycombe isn't exactly Rugby territory is it. Warwickshire however is. I don't know if you're aware of this but Warwickshire is the country where the game was first played. Don't recall the name of the town where it happened, I'm sure it will come to me. Anyhow, Warwickshire sits between two of the Rugby giants, namely Saints and Tigers so unlike when they were at Wycombe they already have two local big derby's to play. On top off that they also have their traditional grudge matches with clubs based in London. On top of that they're settling in at a time that the Rugby world cup is on in England elevating the game's standing in the world.

I don't like it but I'm thinking Wasps done there homework here in terms of location, venue (despite it being an ugly, sole less, worthless white elephant) and timing.

I've got a feeling you're just going to have to learn to deal with them being here and instead of worrying about what they and their hedge fund are going to do next you'd be better off worrying about what our club and our hedge fund are going to do next.

....but as Cov fans and football fans they boycotted sixfields because they disagreed with clubs being moved away from their area, but yet jumped straight on the wasps bandwagon, and many of them have never showed any interest in rugby or the Butts before so debatable to call themselves "rugby" fans...

How do you know the individuals who boycotted Sixfields are the same people going to watch the Wasps. Have you done some sort of survey?
Such a generalisation to suit your own impression of thing.

Is that a fact.

Not Rugby is it?

The same false argument is trotted out multiple times every day. You know – anyone who opposed Sixfields is a total hypocrite if they don’t take a moral stand against Wasps. Or if you can live with the Wasps move you’re “by definition” in favour of franchises and you’d have to support CCFC moving out of Coventry.

Yet the same people would be quite happy for Wasps to go back to High Wycombe, seemingly content with making their move out of London permanent. Or they suggest that they should go to Upton Park in the East End - no doubt with the welfare of the supporters in Buckinghamshire in mind.

We all know that the Sky Blues absolutely represent Coventry, and simply have to play in the city. But the reality for at least a decade has been that Wasps haven’t represented any particular place, which explains why opposition to the move was so feeble. Different circumstances, totally different sport, and completely different attitudes amongst the people who follow it. It’s noticeable how some of our anti-franchise warriors like to show their solidarity for the poor mistreated Wasps fans by taking the piss out of them and their sport.

Wimbledon should never have moved to Milton Keynes. Notts County couldn’t legitimately go and base themselves in Birmingham. If Bedford Rugby Club had tried to move to the Ricoh it would have cause uproar in their town and nobody in Coventry would have condoned or supported the move. But Wasps is a unique case, and I think it’s utterly pointless arguing against what they have brought to this area.

I wish from the bottom of my heart that SISU had bought into the Ricoh from the start, and used it as a vehicle to drive CCFC back to the top. The terms for doing so (favourable or not) were in place when they decided to take over. I was baffled when they kept deferring it because I didn’t want us to be mere tenants paying rent. But they messed up big-time, and now I just hope that somebody somewhere has the vision to bring the two clubs and the stadium together. Building another stadium isn’t a good plan, and nor is distancing ourselves from Wasps.

I haven't don't a survey, but all of the people on my Twitter feed who are now wasps hardcore boycotted sixfields, marched against being in a sixfields, however there will be some than went to sixfields.

How's this for a generalisation - Everyone thought it was wrong for our club to be in sixfields, for a club tone moved from its area, yet Cov fans have jumped on the wasps bandwagon. Unless you can disprove this with a list of fans that supported the move (I.e thought sisu were doing the right thing and no that doesn't mean attending games) and now go to wasps?

That's about as bonkers as when Labovich claimed he didn't hear something as he wasn't working for SISU that day. Its not like Rugby is a sport thats franchise based with teams coming in and out of existence and moving around the country regularly.

Personally didn't go to Sixfields but I would imagine those that went did so as they expected us at some point to return. Had SISU at any point stated the move was permanent there may well have been a different response from those who attended.

It's not bonkers. It's just different sports. Football is quite unique with tribal mentality supporters where you support your team and sod everyone else. Fans of other sports celebrate the sport. Hence people in England shirts at the Japan game clapping and cheering. The world cup is in their home nation and they're going to celebrate that by supporting their sport and the occasion.

Don't bother no matter what argument is put forward some people will always move the goalposts to defend Wasps, bizarre why they are so defensive of a team they have no affiliation for. Only reason I can think of is that they see it as getting one over SISU.

Coventry aren't a top flight club. Had they been the Wasps move would never have been sanctioned and yes if they were I'd dare say that they'd sell out with two huge local derby's and a chance of European Rugby and using the Ricoh at least for those European games much like how Tigers use the King Power for theirs.

If you really want to hit it the Wasps the best thing you can do is get down to CRFC whenever you can and give them the financial boost they need to make a push for top flight Rugby. Football is never going to take fans from Wasps but a successful CRFC will.

Is Wasps moving now being excused because Wycombe isn't a Rugby area but here is? Christ.

I've not defended wasps. Just pointing out how Grendull and the like with their attitude aren't even going to scratch the surface, they're pissing in the wind and I'm trying to do them a favour by pointing out that they're trousers are getting wet.

Like I said in my last reply to Grendull. The only way you're going to stick it to Wasps is by going to CRFC and giving them a helping hand both financially and giving them a lift by playing in front of big crowds.

I suggest you go back and read what I actually said. I've not excused anything. Just pointed out the obvious. Unless you can name a few teams from the Wycombe area that are in the same proximity to Wycombe as Coventry is to Leicester and Northampton?

That's a fair point. It's just as likely that a number of fans who backed the move to Sixfields also go and watch Wasps. After all they have a track record of not seeing distance as an issue. They're probably more at ease with it than the majority of CCFC fans.

What's the point, the Wasps move has killed any chance of CRFC being successful over the next 150 years, do any cities outside London have two premiership rugby teams?

I'm not a rugby fan so doesn't bother me as much but feel sorry for fellow fans of genuine coventry clubs who have also suffered from the Wasps move.

I'm amazed you can type while you have Nick Eastwood cock in your mouth.

Who said men don't multi task.

Lame, pathetic even by your low standards. Is that really what you've reduced yourself too? You might want to go and get your prescription checked for your top of the range contact lenses that you were bragging about earlier, they're not working. You're struggling to see past the end of your nose.

But I thought the Wasps attendances are going to plummet, they'll fall on their arse, from this CCFC will end up owing the Ricoh and magically they'll be able to make the stadium work, despite Wasps being unable to?

So what's the sudden concern re CRFC?

Are they the London team playing in Reading that also have a stadium in London where they train ?

They are the Premiership Rugby Team that play within the same proximity as Leicester and Northampton do to Coventry which was the question wasn't it?

Well that would be ideal of course, But highly unlikely.

Like I said I have no personal concern over the welfare of CRFC but do sympathise with there fans as they are fans of genuine coventry clubs who have also suffered because of Wasps.

I am not on the wind up here but are they happy to lose then if the game was nice to watch?

The Welsh? I wouldn't go as far as to say happy. They enjoyed the occasion and therefore enjoyed the game. It wasn't just English and Welsh fans their too. I saw and met plenty of Irish, Ausies and even a few South Africans wearing their home nations shirts. At the risk of sounding repetitive it's a completely different mindset to football.

No, the question was to name a few teams.

People are seriously deluded if they think that they'll ever get down to a couple of thousand. You simply have no compression of the mentality of Rugby fans. I know people who are Leicester and Northampton fans that go purely because they want to watch top flight Rugby and there's a waiting list for tickets for saints and tigers, it's that simple. So long as Wasps are top flight I doubt there crowds will ever fall below 10k.

Tony, I know lots of Saints fans, being one myself, and dont know anyone who would watch Wasps instead. How many do you know that do? as I would be suprised if it was more than the fingers on one hand.

As for waiting lists, I would check your facts on that one, both have some availability.

I follow my rugby in Northampton and at the Butts, not some shitty Franchise bollocks. To me unlike some they will always be a London club, as I seem to recall they have over a 100 year history in the Capital, something others chose to forget.

I never said instead. I said because they can't get tickets for Saints or Tigers. Never tried to buy tickets for either myself just going by what I've been told by friends who play, played and enjoy watching rugby and have pinned there flags to them two particular teams. Maybe they need to check their facts, I'll be sure to mention it to them I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

Good man Tony. You dont want to start peddling false information again, as I know how much you hate it when you claim Grendel does the same.
