We're playing well at home, Shrewsbury have let in 3 in the first half and will pick up 3 serious injuries in the 2nd half. Be positive! ;)

This and league 2 are all over the place so far. No form book, no outstanding teams, if we keep plodding along nicely we will be fine. Look at league two tonight. Carlisle beat Leyton Orient away 1-2, on sat Carlisle lost at home to hapless Newport, tonight Newport got beat 0-3 at home to Crawley who can't buy a win, Portsmouth lost at home to Exeter, leagues all over the place and so is league 1. Anyone is beating anyone and we shall beat Shrews!

I've always said that we need to look at automatic promotion next season, I'm sure that TM also has this in mind too.

yes i am sure TM is not looking at top 2 because of a week where the team let themselves down by not playing a game...

Well it's surely TM's fault. He went out and chose the wrong tactics and selected the wrong 11 players for the game we didn't have.

A few more losses and the fans will start to worry because it's normal to do so

We're work in progress, therefor the league position is also work in progress.

Let's have a look after boxing day where we are, and where we stand.

If there is no stand out team in L1 this season - and so far there doesn't appear to be, then surely there are 2 automatic places up for grabs rather than just 1?

As we're currently in 7th having played a game less than most others and showing some patchy form over the last 5 games or so, a promotion push could really be on this season. Still early days but I've not seen anything yet to worry us this season.

I have - Lee Burge !!

Only joking, I don't have a problem with him tbh.

Rubbish! We don't even know what team or manager we will have next season. When we are currently 7th with a decent team why would you even think about next season? Now is the time we need to push for automatic promotion.

I think we are in a better position than it looks ATM. OK we need to win our game in hand when it comes, but some of the teams above us have some very tricky games coming up.

Walsall
Wigan A
Burton H
Chesterfield H

Gills
Oldham H
Chesterfield A
Crewe A

Bury
Colchester A
Wigan H
Rochdale H

Rochdale
Bradford H
Sheff U A
Bury A

Walsall have 2 very tricky games, Gillingham had a good result against Fleetwood on Tuesday but lost their last 2 away games before that, and have to play 2 of their next three games away. Rochdale have a difficult 3 games coming up.

You have to live in the here and now. We have some excellent loans in our fold and a very good manager at the helm.

We really need to be looking at promotion this season.
If we have a very good season this year, but don't get promotion, then I would say the chances of Mowbray still being here next season are going to be rather slim.

2 year plans are only well and good if you still have the same framework in place.

The Ricoh rent situation is a factor too, with our having to negotiate a new deal.

This season could be our best chance. Right manager, excellent loans in place and more than likely a much fairer rent deal at the stadium than we will have getting real soon.

This is the time as there is nothing to say that Reda would sign for another year Ricketts will be a year older plus the loans

But we are due to lose Kent and Armstrong in January, and can't guarantee they will stay.

A lot is being made of the loans, but people are forgetting that our best spell before Maddison got injured 10 of our starting 11 were contracted players, Armstrong being the only loan player.

I'm not saying we shouldn't aspire to be in contention for promotion, but put too much expectation on the players,

We may well be able to retain one of those two though past January, if not both.

Think our chances greatly improve if so.

That's true, but it is still an unknown at this stage.

Dropping out the top 6 doesn't mean doom and gloom anymore than winning the first 3 games meant we were automatic promotion candidates.

I just think we should take each game as it comes and enjoy the ride and see where we are in Jan, without the pressure of its promotion or failure.

Agree.

But on the first point it could be argued that TM being here next season is an unknown too and if so, a 2 year plan could be totally pointless.

He's saying all the right things and I do believe he would be prepared to stay for a 2 year term, but if we do, do well, but don't go up, he IS going to be in demand elsewhere.

We're not exactly a secure club at the moment are we, it has to be said.

Could well have nowhere to play again in the very near future.

The way this club is, I hold very little credence with statements about 2 year plans I'm afraid.

ALL games are tricky. And none are trickier than the ones you think you should win.

if only that was true though stupot, the only thing you enjoy is putting down promotion chances

i have never seen you happier than the time council bailed you out with a 10pt deduction to end our playoff hopes

i just dont understand how you dont want ccfc to do well. its weird

Stupot.... you were hit with a 10 point deduction that ended our play off hopes? Wow.

yes i am sure TM is not looking at top 2 because of a week where the team let themselves down by not playing a game...

I am basing it over the while season. I am sure that he considers this a 2 year project. There is going to be a lot of wrist cutting on this forum if we miss out and too many seem to think that reaching the playoffs equals promotion.

i agree there, the playoffs score the shit out of me, i want top 2!

i genuinly think we will be top 6 minimum and think we have a chanc eof autos, i am basing that on what i have seen, not blind optimism

if others disagree thats fine but anyone predicting us less than top 8 is just wayyyyyyyy too negative imo

Yet another childish post showing a vendetta against a particular poster. Do you genuinely believe we have the quality within the squad to finish in the top 2 this season?

The target always seems to be finishing in the playoffs, yet only 1 team out of 4 goes up. Anyone would think finishing 3rd-6th equals automatic promotion.

Based on our record in front of big crowds, the play offs would be a nightmare!!

I'd say a top10 finish would be great progress compared to the recent dross.

Play-offs can be a bit of a lottery.

Would be absolutely delighted if we did make the top 6 though. I predicted 7th and us just missing out.
