Were we wrong to want him sacked at CCFC ? did well at Fulham , doing a great job with Wales . so, why didn't it work for him at CCFC ?

No we weren't wrong, he failed with possible the best squad we had in the championship. He wasn't that successful with Fulham, his success was around avoid relegation and survival, which is why IMO his mindset was very defensive when he was here. That mindset does not breed success. He had a win ratio of 29% when he left us, nowhere near good enough to warrant keeping him.

Coleman has been carried by the Welsh golden generation. He's a very limited manager and should have been sacked after the defeat at Charlton.

...and taken his cronies like Harrison and Thorn with them. Who knows where we would be had we got in a decent manager with the level of investment we had.

Still, 'uncle Ray' knew best.

Yep. Dreadful here. As CCFC says, look who he has to work with now for Wales. Right place at the right time

and managed to go the whole season without a single away win with that squad as I recall.

His tactics at Wales seem to be 10 men behind the ball and hoping Bale can score, they scored 11 goals in 10 games in qualifying and Bale scored 7 of those goals. Look at the Andorra match at the start of qualifying, Andorra have lost 49 out of 49 qualifying matches and Wales narrowly and fortunately beat them 2-1 with two Bale goals after being 1-0 down. I certainly don't buy into all the Wales hype and think its absurd they are in the top 10 in the world, I think what Michael O'Neill and Northern Ireland have achieved is a better achievement than Wales and they done it by playing some decent football and scoring some goals along the way with man for man a pretty poor squad with no star player, I think Kyle Lafferty has been their top scorer.

A good player who you heavily rely on may score 40-50% of your goals? Bale has scored almost 70% of Wales goals in qualifying, one man team imo.

I do think Northern Ireland's achievement is so much greater and yep, I do think Wales rely on Bale an awful lot. I know there is no such thing as a man one team, but sometimes one man can carry a team somewhat.

I think the international game suits his alcoholism as he doesn't have to show up hungover for training 6 days days a week.

There's no way in my mind Bales qualify without Bale, if you compare to Northern Ireland again if you swap Bale for a Kyle Lafferty quality player (who also scored 7 goals for NI) there is no way Coleman is going to be able to get that team to score enough goals to qualify.

Liking the love for N.Ireland chaps...keep it up.

I'm one of the 'Coleman was sh!t for us' brigade but I think he's getting some un-due stick for the job he's doing with Wales. Yes he is carrying on the good work started by Speed but whose to say he wouldn't have put the same things in as Speed did (with the scientific analysis etc)? He could also have changed that all when he came in but carried it on.

I think it was a good decision taking the captaincy off Ramsey and giving it to the more experienced Williams. Too much for a 21 year old, so credit for making that decision. And I don't subscribe to the 'he's only successful because of Bale'...one player doesn't make a team. In the past, they've had probably the worlds best GK at the time, Southall, then one of Europes best strikers in Rush and then had arguably one of Europes finest ever Wingers in Giggs. So there's been times when they've had world beaters in their team. Granted Bale is a different case but one man doesn't make a team.

Shit for us (no doubt) but does deserve some credit for the work he's done with Wales.

Giggs was a freak for how he was able to maintain a high quality for 20 years and didn't have much of a decline going towards 40, but in terms of quality Bale is another step up imo. I don't really care what they have or haven't done in the past anyway, all that says is they may have under performed in the past.

Sorry I just don't buy into the Bales hype, you could give Coleman credit for getting the defence not conceding many goals I guess but all he's done is stuck 10 men behind the ball and left Bale up front by himself, hardly revolutionary stuff, Allardyce and Pulis have been doing that for the past two decades.

Don't know who was worse him or pressley or almost all the managers we've had over the last ten years (at least)

they've all been shite except for Robins and of course TM.

Got lucky with Bale & Ramsay, rather like Pressely did with Clarke & Wilson.

Coleman was worse by far, due to the fact the resources he was given were far superior to Pressleys.

Pressley gets a bit of a raw deal on here by a few with short memories.
Admittedly towards the end he'd lost it, but before that we had plenty of entertainment and plenty of goals.

No one can deny for 4 months or so it was pretty exciting with SP, however the next 12-18 months led me to believe that the good spell was not because of him of his managerial abilities but rather due to the players he inherited.

Agreed - lets say you put Cristiano Ronaldo in the San Marino team do you think they'd have qualified? there's no such thing as a 'One Man Team' in my opinion.

Coleman has done a good job for Wales, but he was shithouse for us. End of.

...and what about all the other quality players he has got? It's not as though the rest of the team are playing in league 1.

He will probably get another job in England based on his time with Wales and fail massively.

I think that we were right to let Coleman go. However, I do think that experience that he gained and reflecting on mistakes that he made have made him a better manager. Good luck to him and Wales in the Euros

Jean Tigana actually but your point still stands. he didn't improve a single player as manager at either Fulham or Coventry

Dreadful manager who played dreadful football here. Can't believe he's actually managed maintain a 12 year management career whilst doing absolutely nothing to prove his worth.

Well, Fulham arguably punched above their weight under him...

As for us, you could say Dann, Fox, Best all improved under him (Best in particular). I won't include Westwood as I'd class more the outfield players. Henderson can arguably credit his emergence due to his loan spell with us and hell, even David Bell looked a half decent footballer!

Personally, I think Coleman's time with us can be split into two. The first half season after he took over, and the next, were unmitigated disasters and he should have gone after either of those. Following that, however, I actually think he did a half decent job considering the rapidly dwindling resources available to him. (Deegan, Hussey et al!).

Oh and as for Coleman's first full season, we actually looked alright then, too, until the Chelsea defeat. The big slide afterwards could be attributed to nothing to play for and yes, you could make a case that the manager should keep his squad motivated regardless, but you could also argue it was taking stock and preparing for the following season.

Whether that slide contributed to SISU turning off the money taps, who knows.

Wales is ideal for Coleman. He's good at setting teams up defensively, and on the counter Wales have some attacking threats. He's a bit like Big Sam, he could manage teams like West Ham, West Brom etc and he would keep them up with ease, but when he has money to spend and high expectations he will always fall short as I don't think he's a front foot manager.

When he was here we were pushing for promotion, he couldn't adapt from survival management to getting a side in the top 6.
