Neither of our goal-keepers are that reliable. I've been saying it from the start of the season, we really need a reliable goal-keeper because this is going to cost us in the end. We wont get one of course so we can expect to drop a point here and there due to GK errors. So long as we can bang the goals in at the other end, we may be able to get away with it.

You have to take into account the playing conditions today. That's not an excuse. Had it been Burge in goal I would have taken it into account for him too.

I wouldn't agree RCC had a poor game, made a couple of decent saves handled okay in horrible conditions just cocked up for their first goal. We didn't win today purely and simply because we showboated, that's okay when the game is buried but it wasn't and we paid the penalty

Exactly this. Burge suffers from nerves and a lack of confidence. IMO technically the difference between them is swings and roundabouts. Burge is a better shot stopper but RCC distribution is better. Where RCC gets the upper hand is confidence and as you say Otis he doesn't give the back four the jitters.
If Burge was as assured and confident as RCC he'd probably still be first choice.
No need to drop RCC because of todays performance. You can't even blame him for the second goal.

Yeah apart from spilling one for a goal and dropping a simple ball that would have been another goal had their striker not handballed on the line.

Just seen a replay, made a complete pigs ear of the initial save for the first equaliser. Wasn't even bad handling as such, his body position and the way he went down looked all wrong and awkward.

Also any hint of offside on the second equaliser? Looks offside on the video but can't see the position of Turner or Stokes on the video tbf, anyone in line with it have a view on it?

What the fuck were they doing for their second goal, do they think they are bloody Barcelona.
The goalie needs to learn he's not a good enough to be an outfield player pretty quickly, and when it's time to put his foot through it.
All in all two of the sloppiest goals I've seen us concede for a very long time.

Just been a very wasteful afternoon all round, so annoying. Apart from the defensive mistakes Armfield had a golden chance to make it 2-0 but went for an audacious chip and we squandered so many good positions with poor final balls. Young Kent guilty too many times of hanging on to the ball too long or trying for difficult passes. BUT we didn't lose and Didn't lose for. I'm

My point is that he doesn't always do that. Look I hate the ball being lumped forward as much as the next man but sometimes there is a need for it. Actually this shouldn't be specific to the keeper there are a few guilty of overplaying it at times. Any way whatever we didn't lose we have 2 very winnable home games in December and the chance of getting something from the Chesterfield game as well. No need to worry

Think most of us knew it would eventually backfire on us at some point so not sure its panic, this sort of error has been coming for the last 6 weeks.
Think its important to have good distribution, I like the way he releases quickly to set us on the counter but don't like the way he needlessly messes around with it when the ball is at his feet.

I've had a few beers, so I'm prepared to be wrong. But did we concede a goal due to RCC 'pissing about' with the ball? As far as I saw it was a quick release and a balls up by somebody else.

Both players were culpable for the second goal imo, majority Fleck and minority Cook.
You see when you see say quick release here, what exactly do you mean? Because what I seen for the second goal wasn't a quick release, it was unnecessary overplaying it at the back. I have no problem if the opposition have committed forward men to an attack and Cook spots an opportunity for a quick counter attack with a good roll or throw and I would encourage that but what I don't like is when Cook tries to play possession football between himself and the back 4, especially when Donny were pressing us which is what happened for the second goal.
Go look at it again, the ball was rolled back to Cook by Ricketts one man was closing Cook down and another was within mere yards of Fleck, it wasn't a 'quick release' setting the team up for an attacking opportunity, it was Cook trying to keep possession by playing a risky pass into Flecks feet. Fleck then fucks it up and its in the net.

The worst thing is fleck looks over his shoulder before the ball reaches him, doesn't see the man and also gives away where he will pass it. Poor all round.

ive seen the Colchester highlights, RCC gave Fleck a ball that he never have should of. He could clearly see Fleck was closed in by two players so why did he give him that ball in the first place.

Im pleased with the point and over the fucking moon that after fifty years we are having a dream season, but I stand by my point he should have wrapped his foot round that back pass and never have given the ball to Fleck.

I love that we're brave enough to play at the back and not lump it forward like we have done for the past god knows how many years, but I called it today before it happened as the conditions and pitch simply were not right for it and if I could see it why couldnt the manager or players? Not had much to criticise them about this year so completely forgivable, but still disappointing.
Also can't understand why changes weren't made with 15 mins to go. Dont like to single anyone out, but Kent looked tired and his touch wasn't there. Would gave switched Murphy and brought fortune or tudgay on.
The other thing I would have switched Murphy and Kent earlier to get Kent running at pace versus that full back on a booking as he would have been scared to tackle for fear of red.
Ah well, unbeateyrun continues and still not lost a league game at home this season.
Onwards and upwards pusb
