I I agree with you and thought at the time would have been a great addition. He gets some criticism for some reason but I rate as a very good professional player.

We didn't lose the game, we lost a penalty shoot out. In my view also we did actually win the game(short of holding out for about 30 seconds to a minute after we scored the winner that was taken away for some strange reason). Semantics maybe but we didn't lose the game.
