Is it me, or have I missed something ?!? (1 Viewer)

I called into the club 'shop' on Sunday and asked whether the Checkatrade final DVD was available/on the horizon. A few looks between staff, then the apparent senior lady, at whom most looks were aimed, just shrugged and shook her head. never mind says I, and ambled towards the Ricoh. Not the shop's fault, but we are heading towards Christmas and I am willing to pay over the odds for a memento of that day. Really can't see why a potential money spinner like this hasn't been sorted. Surely a few thousand copies would be shifted (easy stocking filler for a lot of City fans). Anybody know what the fly in the ointment is?

its sadly typical of the general running of the club, you are correct i would buy one as would many others. Had an e mail last week about an offer for matchday hospitality with a number to ring ,rang straight away all i got was an answerphone message to leave number and they would get back to me still waiting .

The staff in that shop are terrible, every time I’ve been in the service has been poor and they have no knowledge of stock. If I was the club I’d be on at just sport to sort it out.

Other clubs seem to manage things like this with no problem so can't assume there's any rights issue - and if there is why not just come out and say that.

Getting them made is easy enough and you can do 1,000 at a time if you aren't sure how they'd sell. Or even better you could have had them up for pre-order right after the final and have an idea on numbers by the time you got them made.

For a club desperate for money it seems little is done to ensure revenues are maximised.

If I'm honest, this thread wasn't intended as a pop at the shop itself. I am more baffled that the club have failed to spot an obvious opportunity to capitalise on a potential moneyspinner. I'm sure if somebody turned up with a cart full of them on match days (if they were legit !!) they'd shift like hot cakes !

The actual disks would cost pennies, would need a little bit on production maybe if they were to add anything in.

I'd guess they would need to buy the footage from Sky to get that and the interviews etc too.

Minimum order for retail standard (actual silver discs rather than ones that look like you've burnt them at home) including case and cover are about £1 each for 500 but drop the more you have, so even ordering 1000 drops the price to around 65p each.

You could easily knock them out for £15. Sell 5000 and you've just about covered another players wages.

Can't see them selling 5,000. Not many people really buy DVD's any more do they?

Would be better off streaming it on iFollow and charging a fiver :)

You're forgetting old farts like me - and remember from previous threads on here, old farts make up the majority of City fans !!
(I have just emailed CCFC for a response - I will post the reply !)

Perhaps we could ask the insightful reporters of our local radio station to ask the question.......
It might go something like this - Reporter "Is there a DVD of the Checkatrade Final coming out?"
CCFC "Er, maybe"
Reporter "Thanks".

Every time I have been at the Ricoh shopping I have been into the CCFC shop and asked the same question. Think the staff in there are getting fed up of me but the Club are missing an opportunity (yet again), especially leading up to Christmas.

someone somewhere does, else we wouldn't get revenue increasing events like a night with kevin keegan,

Cant understand for the life of me why they haven't got their act together for this one,

I know most people don't use DVD's anymore, but that's not the point.

At one stage 10 years ago, I had over 500 VHS tapes.

Gave them all to charity apart from 10, which I will always keep. They are all CCFC ones, season reviews, FA Cup Final, Liverpool 5-1 etc.

As a random note, somebody fly tipped some VHS videos outside my house.

Some of them were like Premier League 95 and had CCFC on the front. Shame I dont have a video player.
