Coventry City tracking this striker - but they face competition

Surely we can't afford to buy a striker off someone else, let alone one which is highly rated..

Where's the rumour from and based on what? Could we not have sent a scout because we are playing them?

Have we spoken to Mansfield about him?

We spent money on a CB when we thought it was needed.
Personally I think quality CF are a lot harder to find.
I would be up for selling Willis if a bid cane in if the money was to go on the right CF.
I don’t know whether Rose is that right CF or not

I thought it was a bit weird how the rumour come up. A bit out of nowhere, normally CT regurgitate news from elsewhere or rumours off here. But I haven't read it anywhere, not even twitter. So seems odd.

I know we paid money for a CB but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a nominal amount., can't imagine putting putting nominal bid for Rose would get anywhere. However would show a serious sign of intent by SISU if we were throw some money at it.

Will be interesting to see what happens in January, as for once we seem to be planning for the forthcoming window, in advance.

Unless of course Dale Evans HAS taken over the club.

Time to put in a bulk order of humble pie? ;)

We paid for Biamou too, it wouldn't have been too much.

It's a bit of a strange rumour though.

Forgot about Biamou to be honest. Think they need to invest in January as we don't want to have a repeat of falling away after the New Year. Can't see us surviving if we have to stay in this league any longer than ideally one season. If we don't go straight back up then I think we may hover around for a long while. Like what happened when we have been relegated the previous 3 times..

What do you find strange about it?
Not that I believe it. I think it will be just his agent getting him attention at a very poignant moment.

I thought Mansfield were chucking money about, surely we wouldn't be able to match what they'd want for him.

Disagree, I think we should keep hold of our current back four at all costs.

Do you think the current strike force will come good.
Or do you think Ponti will step up?
I take it you don’t think Davies or Hyam could do a good enough job if Willis moved on?

I think it was interesting that Willis didn't play in the FA cup and is therefore not cup tied. If he is missing from the Boreham wood game it may indicate he could be moved on in Jan.

Yayyy a conspiracy theory.
The reason he didn’t play is that Davies is cup tied in the checkatrade trophy. And because he is a right sided CB Willis dropped out.
Would expect Davies to start again against Boreham wood too

Players sign new contracts then move on all the time.
It just helps us get a fair price and gives them security and extra cash in case a bid doesn’t come in.

Literally just signed a new contract, probably just needed a rest

I didn't realise Davies was cup tied in the checkatrade, which round did he play in ?

I think we tend to find that anything that hits the papers is a false or very loose link and therefore probably not going to happen. This does sound like his agent waving the flag to get some attention to the player to put him in a decent negotiating position

Steve Evans has come out and labelled the reports "utter nonsense."

Either the rumour is pure speculation alongside some desperate journalism or Rose's agent is stirring the pot. Either way we'll be finding out come January. However, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, even if we were linked to Rose who's to say we can afford to bring in a striker permanently in the next transfer window...unless someone else is being shipped out of course.

You’d be up for selling Willis?! We’ve got the best defence in the football league, why on earth would you want to break that up?! Even if it was for a good striker.

As we have seen having the best defence in the league might get you scraping into the playoffs.
However having one of the best defences in the league and one of the best attacks will get you the top three.
If we can get that attacker and keep Willis then perfect. However if we have to sell him to get that striker and Davies or Hyum have to step up then so be it. I think it’s easier to find decent defenders but really hard to get good strikers.
I think Davies or Hyum and McDonald will still be a good enough partnership.
