Tickets on priority sale tomorrow.

Boxing day, £20 a ticket and up the road. Surely the biggest following of the season so far? 2000+?

We usually get a 3,500-4,000 allocation for Port Vale, don't we?

Can I just ask generally, don't your wives and girlfriends and family mind you going to an away game on Boxing Day?

I have always done it at home, but of course I am only missing for 2- 21/2 hrs tops. Guessing this is an all dayer usually away from home. I know Port Vale isn't that far, but it must be about 6 hrs turnaround altogether mustn't it? Hour and half to get there, game 2 hrs, hour an half back with no drinks after.

Do the wives, husbands and partners not grumble?

Wife is working boxing day, so am I so will have to do with iFollow!

When I was younger Boxing day you could go out and come home new years eve for a shower to go back out again but not now.

If I wasn't working I could have gone, if it was home I could have gone and been on call :)

Boxing day football home or away has been a tradition for me and a few of few of the family. I always remember my dad taking me to the football when I was a kid and the women traditionally did their own thing, in modern times that being shopping.

For me it is one of two or three fixtures that I look out for at the start of the season.

I always hope we are home. We always go out for Boxing Day lunch as a family. If we are at home it's usually 12ish isn't it, so I can juggle things about a bit.

You can't beat a bit of festive footy, apart from spending Christmas day with family, there is not much else to do

I go every Boxing Day home game. I never do away games anyway, so don't get your point there at all.

I always go on Boxing Day games here and just get the family to change our meal times when we are at home.

Otis always hit and miss with me.

If there’s a family thing on I can’t go but when there’s nowt on (like this year) I book it in the diary way in advance. (And obviously soften the blow with a few lovely gestures )

Maybe for another thread but there has been some cracking Boxing Day matches.

One that sticks in my mind was the game against Sheff Utd when Sean Flynn scores a cracker from outside the box.

It's a working man's right to go out all day on Boxing Day, so home or away doesn't matter

Not bothering with this one. I've been to PV a few times already and its an absolute S*** hole. Not the safest of grounds to visit either which creates a bad atmosphere in the pubs nearby.

Should have had it out in your vows.
My wife knew what she was getting into......
Still have to ask/tell her in a :"do you mind if I" baby tone:)

Can you pay on the gate ? Love Boxing Day games. Remember as a kid with my dad and uncle stood on the Spion Kop, Highfield Road packed. One game v Liverpool a great match they had Roger Hunt, Callaghan, Thompson, StJohn. Brian Lewis roughing StJohn up until the fiery Scot threw an uppercut and knocked him spark out. Other than that it was okay !

Did that end up 0-0? I remember that game. Either 1-1 or 0-0. Can't quite recall exactly.

1-1. Hunt scored for them and I think Hannigan equalised ? Frosty pitch, cigar smoke on the terraces, us kids with new scarves and rattles. Christmas games were special !
