We're lucky we have a solid defensive play that doesn't leak goals because we offer absolutely nothing up top. McNulty doesn't seem to trust Biamou may actually win a header and so should gamble at least. They're obviously sticking 2 guys on Jones on the wing which is making it difficult, but he's finding ways inside and making nice passes. It's a shame we don't have more wingers and I'd love to see Jones in a roaming number 10 for half an hour.

Jones, Biamou and McNulty have barely had a kick.

Missing Kelly in the middle big time.

Going to be a tough second half.

Shipley would probably be a better option in the middle than Maycock.
I mean lets give him a fair chance now he's on, it just wouldn't have been my first choice substitution. This is only the 2nd time Stevenage have been losing at half time at home in 10 games and they ship goals 2nd half so the game will open right up.

Again, it's because they aren't getting anything up front at all.

We aren't even playing it to Biamou's head now.

Willis and Maycock are scaring me with their shocking backward passing.
Not been impressed yet at all by Maycock when I've seen him. Passing not great and just very average. Early days yet though of course.

he looks like it's his job to break things down and run about, haven't ever seen him pick much of a pass.

Never comfortable with only a 1 goal lead for so long in a game!

Hope we get a second early on but also fear one of their whipped crosses might just hurt us!

Was just thinking that, we need to get a second really.

All it takes is a couple more of those crosses and a deflection / tap in for their strikers.

I'm gutted, after all these weeks Kelly was finally playing higher up the pitch and he gets injured after 20 minutes. It's like Andreu getting injured on his first start all over again.

Yep, we were certainly a lot better while he was advanced before he went off.

He was bringing players into the game.

They aren't because "football wise" there is nothing between the defence and attack, it's just bodies doing a job of keeping the ball away from our own goal. Haynes and Shipley have shown small potential of getting forward, but Jones is being left to do it on his own, as Willis (more adept at CB now) isn't venturing at all. If defending well and nicking goals like this gets us a win I won't complain. This year we seem to be able to absorb pressure from teams, in years past, we score, sit back, they score twice.

That's the thing, there is no midfield now pretty much rather than nothing up front. When Kelly was on he was putting passes through and bringing others into the game, Biamou was doing loads of up front and creating things. It's completely changed now.

Abroad, so first time watching it on I follow.
Not the greatest of displays but I will take a crappy 1-0 away win.
Hope Ponti gets 20 minutes.
Shame Stevenson was about to get a chance which the kelly injury.

I like Willis but I would have no issue seeing him sold if we got decent money. To buy the replacements we need on the offensive side of the game.
Wish Robins trusted DKE at rightback.
It kind of feels like when Stokes replaced Haynes at LB. you get a solid defender who offers nothing to the attacking side of the game.
DKE like Haynes will get there eventually.

I think as the game opens up, we should bring on Stevenson and get some midfield creativity back. If he does come on though, I want to see him in control, last few appearances he seems to be hiding in his shadow but then comes alive in cup games.

He isn't on the bench is he?

Robins might look a bit silly if he tried to bring him on tonight mate

They float a free kick in, win the header but their player shoots over...

Only so much pressure we will take.

McNulty loops a pass towards Biamou, Biamou plays it back towards McNulty but ref says foul against us

Biamou forward wel again, taken out, ref gives nothing!

It was a soft foul to give against Biamou compared to some.

Biamou then got forearm smashed.

No consistency.

Jones runs down the right, Shipley looks to have been in loads of space but Jones delayed the pass. Comes back to him in the end and he skies it.

Needed to up the shot count.

Shipley was in a great position then.
