I was expecting it to be wintry today as the forecast was cold with a drop in temperature. It was mild and sunny ! Even had a glass of pop off a customer instead of tea. I reckon they make it up as they go along. It reminds me of a Spike Milligan sketch when Spike as a newsreader says " Right now let's take a look at today's weather." And he just opens a window and looks out. And that's it ! Nice one Spike.

Had our first snow this winter up here in Central Scotland & most of it is still around as it hasn't got much above freezing all day. Even the council got it right and gritted the roads last night, problem is another couple of cold days and they'll have run out as they have been gritting even when the forecast hasn't been 0C and lower

You expect it up North but being in Cov which is central, we don't get much really. I work outdoors and like all seasons, but do like the winter months. I've been hiking/walking in West Scotland, the Torridon Hills. We had 4 seasons in one day, and got attacked by midges. Other than that it was great !

The one good thing about the winter is no midges, they've got a real liking to my English blood yet ignore my Scottish wife!! We don't get that bad a winter, just get snow a couple of times a year but it is considerably colder than the tropical midlands

About midges. I went hiking with my then young son,and a guide was explaining to us beware of these biting insects, as we had never heard of them. The Scotch guide added that they only bite English people. He winked at me but my lad said " That's out of order."
I still rib him about that years later !

It is cold this morning as they predicted. I remember as a kid going to Highfield Road helping other fans clear snow off the pitch, to get the game on. Jimmy Hill calling us heroes, can't imagine SISU or Fisher saying that to us if we had to do similar today !

My daughter has said on Facebook this morning, that it was snowing in Cov (Coundon) at about 8am. Is this right?

Skye is bad for midge, a good tip is if your bitten even if you've got some repellant on is to apply more repellant over the bite, don't scratch it ffs
On that hike in Scotland me and my lad covered our bodies in repellant. But I got bit bad even in my sleeping bag. They are nasty bastards, and the midges too !

Patrick Moore used to do the same thing on "The Sky at Night". He'd end the program by saying to go outside and look up at the sky.
