That is a very good point.
Ps I also believe football is too expensive across the board in England. And I'm also in no way surprised at the negative reaction. But it does blow away the idea that we'd pack out the Ricoh in the premier league or the championship every week.

Messed that up. Apologies.

Kinda surprised by the outrage to be honest. At home to a Prem team. £22 is no more than watching Forest Green at home. Would obviously like it to be cheaper but more than ever the team need our support...

Lets face it even if it was 5 quid cheaper they all still wouldn't go. Would I have liked it a bit cheaper..yes! it is what it is, hoping for a huge cup upset. and money (my money) spent on new transfers in January.

Genuine question, would people have paid £30 for Liverpool or Chelsea away?
Yes I would have paid it, I will pay £23.00 for this game also, doesn't mean it is right.
Just after Xmas aswell aren't people struggling as it is?

Then people will moan that not enough turned up arh well what will be will be.......
Can see attendance at about 10,000 so will generate less money for city then a league game.

Just as you replied I quoted it as nobody had until then :(

Surely if it was £15 for 15,000 as an example, it would have generated less? Let's face it, people weren't going to flock to watch Stoke and have now suddenly decided against it.

Tbf was a bit of a shit draw.
Well let' hope it is a double whamming for Stoke!

I am lost as to what people want, even though I'd have liked a Liverpool, Man City or Chelsea and when Stoke were drawn I'd never have thought I wouldn't go.

Trying to get an idea, for people to go it has to either be a massive top level club or really cheap even though it's still a Premier League club even though the club only get 45% of the tickets anyway which is pretty much the club's main income? I'd bet good money on a percentage of the same people moaning that we don't sign players for unrealistic fees, wages etc etc too.

Problem is Nick people quickly become less 'loyal' I'd have paid £30 if it was Liverpool or Chelsea yet I won't pay £22 to watch us play Stoke.

A year ago I'd have paid £40 to watch us play Newport in a cup tie!

I can only speak for myself but previously a STH since the age of 5 (bar 6F) til this season, I cannot believe how much I've fallen away from the club!

Yes days like Lincoln away made me for one afternoon have that spark back but the flame has definitely gone out big time on the club and I feel many are the same.

It’s too expensive. They needed to pitch this at a reasonable price I.e. a flat 20 and that would have helped although as others have said you won’t please people and most wont bother. Would have been nice to give ST holders a discount

"I'm not paying 20 odd quid for fourth division football"

"I'm not paying 20 odd quid for the country's greatest cup competition either"

Moaning, self-entitled bores. Any other fans would want to get behind their team in a big match.

If that is the case and the fire has actually gone out for a lot of people then we need to give up any hope of becoming a premier league team and look at a smaller stadium that can generate additional revenue because continuing to rattle around inside the Ricoh with no hope of fans returning is pointless.

Would still like to know if the outraged people would have paid that?

I would, but so would the part-timers who turn up for the big games. As mentioned on previous threads, a lot of fans aren't too fussed about playing Stoke at home, so reasonably expensive ticket will put them off.

The ticket price is no more that what I and others pay every week, but that's not the issue for the 9000 loyal fans, its the locals who needed a reason to go.

It's £22 now, if it was £20 then people would want £15 before they went.

People say they won't pay £22 to go and watch FGR and League 2 Football, now they won't pay £22 to go and watch us play a Premier League team.

But then it doesn't make too much sense to whack the tickets right down for a game we only get 45% of the ticket money from does it when people won't bother for the next league game?

It's not as if they have put the prices up to £40 a ticket.

Someone tweeted this to the club.

With Stoke probably not giving a shit about the money, I can imagine we asked for the higher price.

If it was £22 (£23) quid for the Crewe game a few years back, do you think we would have sold out?

Exactly.

They’ve missed a trick here once more. With all the flack they’ve taken this season for the ticket prices, doubled with the aftermath of relegation, games like this are a prime opportunity to say ‘sorry’ to the long suffering fans of this basket case of a club. But no, as always, decisions made by fucking idiots. Set the maximum at £15 and fill the fucking ground for once in your sorry tenure.

Agree a 15-18k stadium which could be expanded in the right location would be ideal as oppposed to the soulless Ricoh!

Hang on I’ve just realised people were saying £20 would be good but it’s £22. If £2 is that much of an issue to you then you shouldn’t be wasting it at the football anyway.

I think people are overestimating a little bit that the ground will be packed to the rafters at £15. when we play Stoke. People were annoyed we got them even before pricing was announced.

We wouldn't have sold out at £15, nowhere near.

It was £20 for Accrington Away, but £22 at home against Stoke is outrageous.

No, but it might have been the difference between say getting 12,000 Coventry fans and 16,000 Coventry fans.

I personally will happily pay the price, the problem is I know so many people won't. People love an excuse not to go.

Yeah saw that. Unfortunately that says 'Minimum' price not 'target/recommended price'

It’s about perception though isn’t it. It sounds and feels more reasonable and would make a tangible difference to the gate.

You will never please everyone but I think a little lower would have been reasonable. For me the opposition is irrelevant, if I am going I’m going. I watch ccfc not the opposition !

It doesn't though, because then that £20 becomes £15 that people want before they will go. It's £2 difference, half a pint.

I get a lot of the argument on both sides but the very people being mocked /vilified here are potential customers, even for the one game.
The number crunchers must have made their assumptions but it's worth remembering these very people are likely respinsible for half of this years player budget.
I'm like ISSS the lights gone out, once only this season I considered going along so my grandson could go to a game but couldn't justify £27.
It wouldn't have made a difference to me If it was UTD at£15,I'm not connected anymore.

Many people think that we are a big club / sleeping giant. This is because of our sell outs at home in the JPT semi and the Ricoh return , our away support at Old Trafford and The Emirates in the cups and our following at Wembley this year. However the consistent theme of those games is that the tickets were cheap for all of them. We all look back at Highfield road through rose coloured glasses. The reality is that even there in the premier league we hardly ever sold out.Yes I will be at the Stoke game and compared to what I have paid for tickets at ramshackle stadiums / open terraces this year in Division 4, £22 is a bargain.
