Or, better still, the bowler has 6 balls, all different colours and vibrancy, and the batsman doesn't know what colour he's going to get until the ball leaves the bowler's hand.

That would spice things up a bit.

Don't, they've just started a 10/10 league in the subcontinent for those that find 2020 too long.....

Ali has had a great year, would probably get in the side on batting alone.

I'm hoping this tour will be a turning point for the ECB who've lost focus of red ball cricket and focussed too much on 2020 and especially the ODI side for the World Cup here in 2019.

They've got to take the hit for the next 18 months and rebuild a Test side, expect a lot of defeats but choose which players they are investing in.

What'll drive me mad is England go to NZ for a couple of test in March, home like conditions but NZ who are rebuilding are a decent side.

Then England play Pakistan in May where no doubt Jimmy will rip through in overcast conditions etc and all will be alright with the world, they need to start building a side that can play wherever and compete well, not just favourable home conditions!

There also needs to be an instruction sent to the counties just before the start of the next home ashes no Aussie overseas players allowed so they can't spend time getting used to conditions, longer term less coaching to create robot bowlers this has proved pace is key smith wouldn't score double hundreds against his own attack

Can't they make Australian bats one inch narrower?

And there's Smith! LBW, ery similar to the Marsh dismissal. Hats off for a great innings but glad to see the back of him

But now a stand for the 8th wicket and Aussies at 610/7.

Must be so humiliating to have an opponent notch up over 600 in an innings.

What about that ball to Vince
He looked unstoppable and seemed unable to process what had just done for him.
Shame.

Shame.

Superb delivery, hit a crack in the wicket as well.

Variation was 42cm's from where it was going if it'd had gone straight to where it went, simply unplayable.

Would be interesting to know what the viewing figures were for BT - like the Chumpions league final they had to open it up to all as the advertisers were not getting their moneys worth

Pretty low amount of people watching it all but people dipping in an out I would switch of when smith is batting

It's all over for us and the Ashes.
Everyone was worried about our new inexperienced batsmen yet it's Cook and Root who have been utter failures.
Can't say enough how much we have missed Stokes. We'd still have lost with him, but put up a much better fight.

Poor management planning and for Stokes all wrong whatever the reason - i mean the fact that they have hard pitches , a different ball and succeed with 90 plus mph bowlers - we were completely unprepared

Looks like we could lose the first session with on/off showers here. The covers blew off earlier, was a bit calamitous.

Still damp patches on the wicket which they’re trying to get rid of with leaf blowers. Water managed to leak through the covers last night with the main excuse seemingly “we don’t normally have rain, it caught us out a bit”
