Whoever implements them they are wrong.

The first time in 50 years I nearly left at half time tonight. I can't believe I waste my time on the team tonight, yes second half was better but still not good emough

I haven’t seen the interview but it sounds like Robins was talking about the mental weakness of players. I wonder what the effect of playing for a draw, as was reportedly the case in the first half, has on the players belief that they can win a game? If indeed this was the case it sends a pretty clear message to players that he doesn’t think they can win.

Thread hits the nail squarely on the head. I am sick and tired of watching men v boys year in year out. We have been brittle for as long as I can remember. How often do we come back from behind to draw let alone win? Yet it seems that every time we go two goals ahead the next goal is almost guaranteed to go in our net. Away form has been an issue since about 1970!

Other clubs always seem to have robust, fit players who bust a gut to win and seldom make stupid, mindless mistakes. We seem to be a team of dilettantes, scared of their own shadow and terrified of making a mistake. If the crowd groan a bit when you hit a pass ten years wide are you really surprised? People pay £25 to watch professional footballers, not to see skill levels on a par with their mother in law.

This lot need to grow up fast and get stuck in a bit. Doyle a notable exception.

This has largely been our squad every year since SISU decided to pull investment. We will always now have a large proportion of frightened kids in the team as they are promoted too soon from the academy or brought in from other teams for experience. Doyles absence is crucial as he stands up for the others, we need more like him.

But then watch them in the cup, fighting for every ball, charging down shots, blocking shots, clearing the ball off the line and running themselves into the ground and doing so with great passion and spirit.

We will more than likely get that again on Saturday and that I will find particularly galling.

Robins has never been promoted. It's starting to become apparent why.

For the first time I got more interested in seeing how Forest Green Rovers were getting on in their bid to stay up than seeing how the Sky Blues were doing. That tells me a lot on how far my interest has fallen.

Not allowed an opinion then, especially if it borders on pointing the finger at the owners and their disinterest ?!

Our better players this season have been Willis, Bayliss, McNulty, maybe Grimmer and Jones. None of them are old. If anything the experienced pros like Vincenti, Beavon and recently Kelly have been the ones to let us down.

Agreed, there is a bit more experience around of late, however : Burge, Grimmer, Willis, McDonald, DKE, Haynes, Maguire-Drew, Clarke- Harris and Hyam are all 25 and under. Its not just about age though its about mentality and physicality in this league.

They don’t work hard enough. As Nick has identified our throw-ins aren’t an advantage they’re a liability. Nobody seems to want the ball, nobody moves to make space and the opposition often get it straight away. Same with goal kicks. Same with the passing. Our man on the ball gets closed down by two or three energetic opponents, his team-mates don’t move to give him options. Any hard-working team has a chance against us.

If I may offer my insight as someone who plays football, all of these things mentioned are a sign of abject confidence.

At the start of the season (for my team) we were winless in 10 games and literally no one wanted the ball. Everyone including myself went hiding. Passes were rarely strung together. Throw ins were a hindrance, and the most common tactic we had was to hoof it and give ourselves a bit of a break.

Now on our current run we have only lost one in six, played some really good football and everyone wants the ball all the time. The movement is sharper and everyone is helping each other out. At throw ins we have 2 or 3 players all moving around trying to make it as difficult as possible for the opposition, and if anyone dare hoofs the ball it is met with a disgruntled sigh from the other 10 players.

I honestly think we are suffering in confidence and it is making the players play with fear and not naturally. This needs to be addressed by implementing more attacking tactics and getting the likes of Doyle and Grimmer back sharpish, and I would also encourage JCH starts games with McNulty. At present we don't believe we are going to score goals and win games, and it is extremely worrying for a team that is going for promotion.

Well mostly, he was successful 6 years after he was at United, having been given the time to put together a very good squad and been fortunate that United were in a golden era of producing their own players.

surely players would try to implement 100% of strategy/tactics wether they actually implement anything as per say manager instructions/or their style of play.
Implementing as per instructions is a different matter.

The only ‘kid’ we have in our team is Bayliss and he’s more than good enough to be playing

True but they’ve only played bit parts and the latter two only in the cup competitions.
