So its been a long time since I have been in England but Accrington are on a great run, What do they have that we are missing and perhaps need when we go up?

Not a lot tbh, very good Manager doing a brilliant job on tight resources. Man for Man nothing in it really, they scored early against us at The Ricoh and we never recovered.

Doing a Burton. Didn't Burton have something like 13 or so 1-0 wins in their promotion season to the championship.six 1-0 wins for Accrington so far.Nick a goal and shut up shop

Team spirit, organisation, fight, a clear plan, belief, determination and they all work hard as a unit.

I think the plan helps, when we played them every player was on the same wave length.

Didn't need to look up most of the time as they knew what they were going to do.

Yep. Bit better than our plan we have for kick offs and throws and hitting the ball long and high when there's no-one there to get on the end of it.

Owners who care about the club and who’s priority is pulling in a direction that sees the club over exceed. That rubs of on all below so everyone is pulling in the same direction, that gives you momentum.

Billy Kee 21 goals
Kayden Jackson 14 Goals

A starting point for there success is that they can score goals - They have League two top goalscorer Billy Kee and also Kayden Jackson high on the list
Mark Robins arguably two main strikers suffered early season long-term injuries Tony Andreu and Jodi Jones and you have to wonder what if - Mark Robins dug deep on knowledge and came up with Marc Mcnulty not really sure if another manager in this division could have done that

To think last season they were a mediocre midtable team. I think they’ll end the season on 99-101pts and help us on our run to the automatics!

That kick off frustrates the hell out of me..I cannot see the point in it or am so missing something? It's 50/50 at best and in the last game we have the opposition a goal chance from the off when we conceded possession through it ....grrrrrrrrr why why why?

Just like Leicester winning the Premier league, it's not so much about the technical ability of the players but the fact that they are all playing for each other in a system that is working for them and no other team is probably respecting that enough to change their approach when they play them

They remind me of teams like Yeovil and Burton get on a run and don’t stop but in the end get to a level where they can’t survive and when they start falling can’t stop, wouldn’t shock me to see Burton drop again next year.

Me neither, it’s almost as if it’s a bad thing for the likes of Stockport, Yeovil, Burton, Grimsby etc. to get promoted to the Championship. As if it’s too much of a strain on them.

I know it’s a different sport, but the murky side of Rugby Union that it’s common for teams to ‘ensure’ they don’t get promoted. I’m aware of one northern side who were top and ‘conveniently’ lost by 60pts to the bottom side and their rivals pipped them on points difference...

They were only a few points off the pay-offs last year, and the year before were denied automatic promotion when Bristol Rovers scored in the last minute to take 3rd place. They really are a well-run club who punch above their weight, given the crowds they get.

Steve, aren't you one of those who gives Burge stick for his kicking - it would appear that many of the team like to kick for touch in the style of our egg-chaser landlords....

They have given their manager the chance to build and develop over a few years. No taxi ordered for Coleman. No clock going tic toc.

The expectation level difference at Cov and Accrington is massive though. You can’t really compare the two. Accrington haven’t been above the fourth tier since the 60s so they are going to give managers more time as not much is expected of them

Not sure that this is true. If Accrington were struggling I am sure that some of their fan base would be calling for the manager’s head. Look at Tisdale last season. Exeter struggling before Christmas and a groundswell of their fans wanted him gone. I would bet they would like him to stay now. If you have done due diligence on the person you appoint, then surely you have got to have faith in them, stand by them through the bad spells and let them build a base that can give success.Three weeks ago a few people on here wanted Robins gone. Most of those will have now changed their minds. If we lose on Monday, no doubt they will be back taxiing and tic tocing!

I don't really Burge too much stick for his inept kicking because the bloke who teaches them was a shocking kicker of the ball, the thing I cannot understand is that with all the training they have every day they still cannot sort it out god knows what they would be like before training day in day out, I used to play in goal in my younger years and I 100% definitely never ever kicked the ball out of play, mind you I was pleased to reach the half way line with my kicking

The statement is obviously wrong but I'm pleased he made it. Accrington will be wound up by it, just in time for Saturday's game against Lincoln.
Yep. Hopefully they will be a tad narked by the comment.

Accrington do play tomorrow night though too of course.

What a stupid statement the team with the most points are the best team and the team at the bottom are the worst as they have the least, it doesn’t matter how you get the points if you win the first thirty and lose the last eight you still win it.

I would much prefer Accrington to win the league. They are a good example of well oiled side where every player knows their job and they all stick to it.

Yeah Luton have scored loads but they have bought in loads of players, something Accrington could only dream of doing.

Will be interesting to see what Accrington do now they are going up and how they adapt.

Strange claim from the Luton manager. Compared to Accrington then Luton .......

- they are second
- they have won 4 less games
- they have spent more money
- they have a bigger income
- they have been equalled (drawn) in 12 of their matches whereas Accrington only 6 times
- Yes they have scored more goals but also conceded more than Accrington

To achieve what they have you would have to say that the sum of their parts for Accrington had to be the better more consistent team, and by some distance over the other teams in the division including Luton. Make all the claims he likes but the table doesn't lie over a season and teams end up where they are capable of being in Luton's case 2nd best

well pleased for Accrington! they in my mind had a plan, every player knows that plan, they know what to do at throw-ins, they know what to do at corners in fact they look like a team of players that live in each others pocket off the pitch. I did not see any bitching at each other either, so all in all
well done Accrington

It is nothing to do with expectation, it is about building a team. You can have as much expectation as you like but it is going nowhere without a team and a plan.
