A lot of those that seem to believe this £175k loan fee are ones that normally demand a link as proof of this type of thing, so can someone please put something up from either club that shows this fee is real, rather than a figure plucked up by someone as guesswork, which then becomes 'fact' over time.

The link from the Rotherham kit sponsor?

Chesterfield offering a fee to buy him but him coming to us instead?

Seems a bit more than something made up for a laugh?

Obviously everything is taken with a pinch of salt, but it's not really the made up thing you keep saying. There seems to be something in it

Well yes
That illustrates the situation exactly
Newcastle are rumoured to have paid £1m up front but there will almost certainly have been add ons if Bigi had gone on to the top level
It was a risk for NUFC which didn't pay off

Newcastle are £144 million in debt so how was it a good move?

Ben Stevenson was wanted by a club with ambition, top of the championship at the time, plenty of money and now in the Premier league those on here saying we did well with that fee and he’d lost his way a bit playing wise should think again, I suggest he didn’t fit into Mark Robins’s preferred way of playing more like which is basically 7 defenders I predict Stevenson will blossom now he is with a proper manager.

He also wanted to go.

Do you think he will get many pl games?

It wasn't - Newcastle's gamble didn't pay off
They are a spectacularly badly run club, something we know a lot about ourselves
Although Bigi wasn't looking for a move he did get a vast increase in wages before he ended up back with us after NUFC paid him off before the end of his contract
Whether he'd have done better staying with us for another season or two is a moot point

As much as it 'hurts' us when a player leaves you cannot fault any of them for bettering their wages, we all want our players to be sold for millions but I would imagine there would absolutely be add ons in Stevensons case so let's all hope he becomes much better than what he was performing here and earns us a nice pay day at some point in his career

Which manager? The Colchester one, their Under 23 one, or the first team manager?

I would suspect he hasn't even had a training session under Santo their manager, and hasn't got a squad number yet, so he has a way to go. I suspect he will be more Bigirimana than Maddison.

500k not too bad if we have good add ons

if not then its a shame as potential wise he was looking like a maddison type of player potential career wise

i dont get this rubbishing of players talent when they leave, yes he didnt have a great time under robins but he showed enough in his time here to let us know he is a good player, wouldnt it be nice to have a cov team with bayliss and stevenson? with maddison and wilson? i know a selling club must sell but we can still be upset by it rather than hailing it the sale of the century and good riddance etc

i am sure he will excel at a big team that plays it on ground alot like wolves. afaik hes doing quite well at colchester even now

How strange that he's ended up playing for a premier league club and Maddison championship.

I know he will probably never play in the PL for them but still, funny how things play out

How's Stevenson getting on with his loan spell? Presume they'll be looking at a Championship / L1 loan for him next season.

Did you think Maddison would be touted as a £20million target for the big boys ?

I'd say Maddison showed a lot more promise for us even if he did dive a lot. Stevenson won't get a PL game for Wolves.

Fancy a tenner on it?

Effectively we've signed JCH permanently, barring a catastrophic failure on his part.

The fee is to get round FFP for this season. Within the fee will be wages I'd assume, too. Sure bawtryneil can explain it better than any of us, but it's really not that radical a concept.

Didn’t we sign JCH on loan initially with view to a permanent deal, I suspect if there is a fee such as the £175k being quoted that will be what we pay IF we sign him.

It was structured as a loan deal for FFP rather than a straight transfer.

He's a Leicester fan, his family laugh at us. He thought he'd made it when he was miles away. Not good enough and poor attitude. Not in the team and personally wasn't bothered at all that he'd gone and any fee is good to get a bad apple out of the camp - particularly one who pretends he's ill and can't be bothered to turn up for training. If he doesn't toughen up he won’t make it and I suspect he'll fall short. I'm not bitter about it either before that's levelled and I don't blame him for taking the money, so we get some cash, he gets his move and we’re all happy. My guess in 4 years we’ll be Championship and he’ll be L2.
