Just received this press release from the EFL:

Coventry City will wear a one-off strip for the upcoming League Two Play-Off Final fixture against Exeter City, having exhausted their supply of existing kit for the 2017/18 season.

With this season’s kit no longer available, the Club will wear an alternative strip in their traditional colours at Wembley on Monday 28 May.

Dave Boddy, Coventry City Chief Executive, said: “Having been unable to obtain new replacements of the existing kit, we have had to source a one-off shirt from our kit supplier for the Play-Off Final.

“The striped kit is one with much history, especially at Wembley, for the Sky Blues and we hope it will prove popular with supporters.”

Stinks of bullshit this, just a money making scheme by the club, very small time. How is it even possible that we've run out of kits/Nike can't make us another set of this years?

Do they wear a brand new kit every game?

People don't have to buy that kit, isn't it just last seasons?

Ran out of kit supplies? Sounds more like a Sunday league set up to allow that to happen!

This will probably be next seasons kit and they’ve had to bring it forward for next week, fans who’s got this seasons home kit should be offered a discount, they were bought for the season and this is the biggest game of said season!

Boddy's confirmed it's a one-off later in the article NEWS: Coventry City to wear one-off special shirt for the Play-Off Final
“This will not be the kit for the 2018/19 season, so we hope it will be a very unique shirt for the club and fans.”

Who washed the kits over the weekend and forgot to bring a couple back to training during the week?

I think it's a good idea - even if the season's kit hadn't run out, a nice "commemorative for the final" kit is a nice thing.

silly decision for a quite weird excuse

keep the kit that got us there and that people like me paid for

that said at least its a nice kit with plenty of sky blue

It makes sense from a revenue perspective but I prefer the real kit to be honest. Any chance of a kit clash as Exeter play in white stripes too?

Thing is, if we lose on Monday no-one is going to want that kit.

Win and we will sell them like hotcakes.
