I was sorting through some old photos and I have one of our teamsheet for a match against Dagenham and Redbridge in 2012.

Some names I had forgotten about, and some names I wish I had forgotten about.

Do we have a better team now than we did then?

What a god awful game that was! Kilbane’s last minute penalty I think was celebrated more than any other City goal before as it meant no extra time!

Richard Wood i would say was then and arguably still is now, better than our current defence. Joe Murphy better than Burge maybe/probably? Other than those two the team now is better by a country mile.

Chris Hussey - spent last season on loan at L2 Swindon. Now at Cheltenham Town.

Kevin Kilbane - retired in 2012
Carl Baker - free agent
Billy Daniels - at Nuneaton Town of National League North
Gary McSheffrey - at Grimsby in L2

Did alright at Notts County from what I remember, I know my County supporting mate rated him so was odd when he left them to go in to non-league. May have been by choice I suppose? Wanted to study for a degree or something?

That season David McGoldrick, then Leon Clarke played up top for us with a young Callum Wilson featuring by the end of the season. We also had John Fleck, Cyrus Christie and Franck Moussa. Not really comparing like for like looking at a League Cup 1st Round game we won without playing our best team.
