We are thin up front (1 Viewer)

Although pleased with the new signings that have reinforced defence and midfield, we are still over-reliant on one man, McNulty, up front. We need 4 for up front in the squad - two target men, and two strikers. We have respectively, Max and JCH as target men and Sparky and Ponti a strikers. Looking at them one by one -

I love Biamou but there have to be a question mark about him at Div 1 level
JCH was the great hope when he arrived but tailed off - and that was in Div 2. I am disappointed we have signed him to be frank
McNulty - top man
Ponticelli - unproven at Div 2 let alone the higher division. Looks a bit slow to me.

So, is there money in the kitty for another striker?
Don't we need someone in the JCH mold only better?

I would suggest loaning out Ponti and loaning in a bruiser of a centre forward.

If they bring in another striker it's likely to be a loan from a Championship or Premiership club I think.
The focus on signings has been on midfield development players so far.
I would actually look at central defence now for a permanent contract.
The defence was solid in League Two but it will not be so easy in League one, perhaps an experienced head is needed?

Yep and they've all come to the game straight from fat club.
The first rule of fat club is you don't talk about fat club!

im confident we will sign at least one more striker... and I have a sneaking suspicion that will be the marquee signing ;)

Surely he's just biding his time to see what he gets from any Maddison deal first? It's only 20th June after all.

JCH had hardly played, he will look much better having had some games under his belt for us now and a full pre season.
Biamou has scored twice against L1 opposition in the 2 games he's played.

What formation are you expecting to play? If we're playing 4-2-3-1, I wouldn't be that worried about our strikers. What upgrade on that set of strikers would come here knowing McNulty will be the first choice anyway?

Plenty of goals in Bayliss, Andreu and Jones from midfield too.

If there are any options out there that are better than what we’ve got, the. We should sign them. For me, JCH and McNulty are probably our best two options at this point, McNulty for obvious reason and JCH because his good form in his last full season in L1 (9 in 42ish for Oldham). Some good glimpses from both Ponticelli and Biamou suggest they can play a role in L1, but if we’re really serious about challenging for L1 promotion, we’d probably need a more proven option upfront — applies equally to JCH in fairness.

I like the Allassani signing, another option upfront, but judging from the Dulwich manager’s remarks, he’s more of a winger or behind the striker option, and playing striker last season suited their 5-3-2 system.

If our goal is to consolidate, I’m satisfied with our options. However, if the goal is truly promotion, we need to strengthen significantly.

Especially if Ponticelli isn't ready.

There's every chance we are planning on Andreu at 10 next season

I'm not sure we NEED one. Think what we have is good to be honest.

I don’t think there is enough goals there. McNulty - difficult to asess but it’s likely to be 15 to 20 in a higher league. Biamou won’t get a sniff in league one and clarke-Harris is a 10 goal a season player I’d guess.

My guess is we will sign a new striker and Biamou will go to a national league / league two club

Which would mean 1 striker as we did in the early part of last season which proved s failure

Andreu is being built up on the basis of what I’m not sure. Unlike Jones we’ve hardly seen him and his career record isn’t that much to shout about

Jury is out on him

Yeah apart from some great games for Norwich against better teams than us

Biamou is improving and will win the ball in the air - we have seen this. I'd sooner go with him, his enthusiasm and energy versus a Kevin Kyle type on a downward spiral in their career. I think MR will get this side of it right.

Exactly. With those three, and also that Allesani bloke im feeling very confident about our attacking midfield and then McNulty to do what he does best
