Interesting article on the BBC. The TV money makes a massive difference higher up in the leagues. So much so that 10 premier league teams could still have made a profit had they had no fans attend at all.

However in the case of the really big clubs gate receipts are still important because of what they spend on getting the stars in to their team (Man U Arsenal Liverpool etc). But it is focused on Corporate business not the average fan

The lower you go the more dependent teams are on gate money. But seems that CCFC are not the only ones dependent on gate money and they do not appear in the top 10 of clubs where matchday income forms the greatest part of turnover. (although I think that's wrong because matchday income in the 2017 accounts was 40.1% - the breakdown is in the SBS&L accounts not Otium)

Football really needs sorting out but you're talking about salary caps / floors, maximum squad sizes etc and those at the top will never vote for that as it means they have less chance of winning and can't make money by taking every promising youngster and then charging to loan them out.

To be honest I think there has been some very simplistic calculations being done. I do not think there is a set definition of match day income. I find it hard to believe that Sheff utd made sales of 7.9m from their crowds. I think teams allocate or differentiate between income sources as they choose to not to a set definition
