Lot of early day panic on here. We must all remember we finished last season the lowest in our history, sixth, just about. Perhaps we were all spoilt with Wembley and all that but that team needed and got new, experienced players. Let’s forget the youngsters we signed for now, we have got experienced division one players through the door, Ogogo, Brown, Bakayoko, a fit again Andrue, think the unknown Westbrooke has played division one football too, these need a bit of time to bed in, we have lost one, drew one, going to forget the Oxford cup-tie obviously not a great performance but we did get the ball in the net. We have to give things atleast half a dozen games,we have tough games on the horizon against what will be imo promotion challenging teams Plymouth, Portsmouth and Sunderland, all at home, get Kelly fit and in his proper position think we’ll be better then, we have to be !

I've already given up on the season.

Wonder who the other three teams will be that go down to L2 with us.

I preferred league 2 anyway.

In all serious I don't think anybody is unrealistic we're just reeling from one of the worst performances of the last few years on Tuesday (and that is saying something).

I am lucky. I was in London, didn't follow the game, didn't follow the match thread, didn't known the score til I came home.

It's all quite refreshing, because I have no anger, or irk, or frustration about the result or performance.

Quite looking forwards to tomorrow. :)

When we lose away though, I do always feel sorry for the brave souls who have turned up and spent their hard-earned cash.

We’ll only one of the other promoted teams, the league winners are above us as for the Oxford performance don’t know much about that I’m 4000 miles away at the moment bit if it was our worst performance of the last few years LG I indeed would be worried

You need to be collecting points throughout the season to win promotion. Of course, there are exceptions of teams who go on very long unbeaten runs but typically you must start strong and finish strong.
I have always had a lot of time for MR but I do not believe he has got it right this summer. What appears to be a scatter gun approach to recruitment without a real plan. Looks like to much quantity and not enough quality for me and to many similar players on the books.
It's no good getting it right by the end of August when 5 or 6 games have been played and we are 10 points behind the leading pack.
Hope I am wrong and we get three points tomorrow.

I only worry when there are a succession of poor performances.

We played well against Scumthorpe at times, so I am not at all disheartened.

The way he talks is as if it is still pre-season.

If you mean MR, then I agree
I appreciate we were two weeks behind everybody else due to the play offs but he knew about the Maddison money and the likely outcome with McNulty.
Three weeks into the new season and no replacement for McNulty. Very disappointing.

Yeah MR, in most interviews he seems to be writing off August. Trying out random formations in competitive games which should be done pre season.

Every point lost now is a point to gain on the competition later in the year.
I hate to say it but I distinctly get the impression he doesn't expect promotion or the play offs this season.
In my opinion we are very close to having a very good league 1 team.
Shoukd have been there on August 4th not August 31st.

He doesn't seem to bothered to be out of the Caraboa Cup either. Pisses me off. Rotherham will make over 100k from their trip to Everton with TV money, prize money and gate receipts.

But he's only just got Bako, Hiwula and Thomas in Nick
And Bayliss was away with Sterling so missed most of the pre season
This division is a marathon
We did well in the first two league games
Ok the League cup game wasn't so good but we made changes to important areas
And if the two disallowed goals had stood things would look a lot different
Robins thought that McNulty was staying until his agent engineered the move so let's all get behind the players that have stayed
It's obvious Robins hasn't finished his attempts at bringing in a new quality striker as we've kept the No 10 shirt as a carrot

Fine if he's not interested in the league cup but he could have said before hand to stop over 1,000 of us wasting our time and money on that

Yeah there should really be a rule where you have to let people know before hand if you are going to piss about and try things out so they can then judge before going.

If it was a friendly you expect it, so know but when people are rushing down after work etc to watch him piss about like that it takes the piss a bit. Luckily there was free parking!

Wouldn't be surprised if most people spell Brexit wrong too.

Just come out and say something like 'we're going to be trying some new things out tonight in a game that won't damage our chances in the league" everybody knows what you're on about then so you can just stay at home.

I spent half the game worrying my car would get a dent in it too so that didn't help.

Last year at times we looked awful, yet in the playoff semi 2nd leg and in the final we looked the best team in L2. I'm not sure if I'm encouraged by that or not. The other thing about last year is we didn't seem to know our best team and formation any time during the season until we got hammered by Lincoln. Then MR seemed to me to be thinking we had more or less lost our chance of the playoffs, and decided to go all out attack and see what happened. That explains 14 goals in the last 5 games.

not enough quality pre-season games if you ask me and we are now playing catch up. i dont understand why our pre-season games are so shite!

I must be honest and admit that I spent nearly all of last season thinking that Robins hadn't got a fucking clue what he was doing, playing 2 defensive midfielders that Sat deeper and deeper as every game went on, struggling to come up with any kind of game plan and seeing our strikers getting isolated all the time, but then would you believe it, Mcnulty finds his scoring boots, Bayliss and Shipley look quality, and we end up in the playoffs.
This season has started in much the same way, only we don't yet have a goalscorer, let alone a system or plan and we look like we are going to rely on kids to help us win matches.
IMHO Robins got very lucky last season, and I can't help thinking he's going to get found out in league 1.

Without seeing or following the Oxford match, I find it very hard anything can top that 6-2 loss to Yeovil. Only that and the 4-0 loss to Watford, last game of the season under (probably) Coleman. Leon Barnett’s defending still makes my blood boil to this day. Only two games I voluntarily stormed out early.

A fair amount of people left to go to the bowling alley because they couldn't stand it any more.

Weren’t the Watford game the one Coleman left Marcus Hall on the bench all game in his last involvement with the club?

I had forgotten about that! But that’s the one! I’m unsure whether or not it was the right thing to leave him out. A 4-0 horror show for your last game? Wouldn’t be for me, personally.

Biggest disappointment for me is not so much aimed at Robins as he’s clearly shopping in Poundland, had no backing from above. That’s even after he was promised the majority of the quoted £1.5M transfer fee received.

The owners have received £3.5M plus from Maddison and McNulty. On top of that We have had a 50% rise in season tickets sales 4500 to 6700 tremendous backing considering the price.
We already shipped out 11/12 other players and some for fees ,( Haynes and McDonald ).
Got rid of some high earners on league 1 wages like Reid/Beavon/Vincenti etc.

My gripe is that Sisu haven’t invested any of the received player fees ( Maddison money was a bonus as he was injured and no guarantee of any sale this season). Which can be classed as a bonus for Sisu.

Completely understand they want to keep the majority of it, I don’t understand how they cannot put an extra but for £1M in the MR war chest.

Very disappointing that clubs like Lincoln City can sign players like barnets Akinde (1 in 3) striker with proven quality. A question for MR why didn’t he sign, Dioge, Stockley, Akinde, Dennis etc Who would have cost a fraction of what we sold McNulty for.

We had a chance to make a statement.

Promotion was always going to be unrealistic this season; one where we consolidate our position in League 1. A top 10 finish will be a good season.
