Agree that he's available according to MR, but Pompey rag ran an article suggesting it's up to Kenny Jackett and that it will be a 'no' ?!

If I was Jackett I’d let him play, better the devil you know, I’m not bothered, just put Hiwula in his place and start Jodie Jones too

Given Jacketts cautious approach to the actual transfer, I'd be amazed if he lets him play. I think Chaplin will be itching to be on the field - the lad can finish and no doubt yesterday's misses will be gnawing at him.

Why can't someone in the local media just ask Robins or someone at the club. Its not a decision Portsmouth get to make now, it will be a known thing dependent on the contract agreed.

From what I've read about, re. the reports on here, would he be missed if he didn't play? Not scoring (what we signed him up for!) and doesn't look likely to for a few games yet. Portsmouth needn't worry too much.

Whilst I fully endorse any loan player, whether one of ours going out or one coming in ... not to be able to play against us/them ... I think when a player is on loan with an already signed contract to purchase come January (only held up due to the rulings say we couldn't sign after August) ... then I think he should be allowed to play.

Having said all that ... I agree with a poster above, he's not exactly prolific (yet) ... so a chance for Jiwula / Jones may not be a bad thing and these are players that Portsmouth don't know anything about ...

Pretty much agree with all of this!

I like what I've seen from Chaplin, but if Hiwula comes in and scores, then I think he should keep his place Saturday.
I appreciate the manager is paid to make tough decisions, but
I think it would send the wrong message to the rest of the squad.

Anyhow, I read it as being down to MR to decide if he can play, so in the words of Phil Collins - No Jacket Required!

CJ just posted on twitter, or rather asked the question, that's it's an EFL rule that loan players can't play against parent club. Seems most logical explanation.
If the power lies with Jackett however it's surely a no.
