It really is embarrasing. We didn’t even invade the pitch when we won the Anchor cup.

Throwing bottles is definitely not on.
That said, I'm secretly quite pleased at the pitch invasions, smoke bombs etc. - the fanatical streak that's developed over the years is much better than the apathy and away followings of 300 I've seen at some times in the past. The tour around the lower divisions has by no means been all bad as character-building exercise, and it's hopefully helping to get rid of the entitled whiners that are occasionally too numerous in the stands.
Away games are great - I love them!

Jeez running on the pitch. Truly pathetic. I barely celebrated the first goal, huge yessss get in and fist pump with son son for second ( pissed off how we hadn’t been 2/3 goals to the good). If it was a league match I would have gone mental ! far far more importance.
But jeez fuck me running onto the pitch because we got an equaliser in the 60th minute vs Walsall in 1st round of The FA cup with a shit goal. These kids need a get a life. I’m assuming they were 12 year olds.
Not that I’d run onto the pitch in any circumstance.

We need to introduce a safe space zone at Away games for the Tessuti Sale Brigade. How about digging a 20 foot trench in between the pitch and the stand of each ground we go to.
Those that are found in the trench at the end of the match are then forced by the police to attend an Evening with Chris Tarrant at the Ricoh....Those that don’t attend the evening must then surrender their beloved Stone Island jacket at the club shop and exchange it for an official CCFC Avec Sport track top and branded garden gnome, or they lose their priority access to Away tickets.

Might be a bit of an issue in League 1 if a steward/sniper can’t tell the difference between a shithouse centre back that’s ran out of play and big Steve from Canley in a replica making a run onto the pitch!
The middle aged bloke running onto the pitch with a rucksack filled with packed lunches was just a joke.

But they wouldn't be with regular army service.
National service members would be in there own units. If after 2 years service they wanted to stay in, then and only then would they be filtered into regular units. And at 17/18 if they walked into their units thinking they were Billy big bollocks, they'd soon be knocked down a peg or 2.

There appeared to be a lot of ar*eholes (15/16 year olds who had got hold of some beer) around Saturday and agree that the celebration was just over the top and pathetic.
The best part of the day was about 15 minutes after the "pitch invasion" a young tw*t who had disappeared came hobbling back to his seat.
He claimed to have been dragged onto(!) the pitch by a steward by his leg and twisted his knee. He then went to the medic room who had clearly weighed him up pretty quick so cut his jeans off at the knee of 1 leg. He came back saying he had been on gas and air and was suing the steward... hilarious hearing him whinging about his favourite jeans

I know him! He's a sound young lad but like the rest of them can be silly when he's with his mates. I will be having a word/taking the piss when I see him.
I have heard that he has hurt his leg quite badly, maybe that will make him think twice before acting the arse next time, (though I won't hold my breath).

Maybe just a case of playing up in front of his mates then... we did find it amusing though!!! Never known a steward to drag somebody onto the pitch before ha!
Hopefully nothing too bad to the knee but like you say, might keep him in his seat in future!

I saw a lad run on the pitch after the first goal and get dragged off by Stewards. What I don't get is why all of the other city fans run over and start kicking off with the stewards and calling them wankers saying he is just a kid.
If he was just a kid, where is his parent if he isn't old enough to make his own decisions.

It is absolutely crazy. At a football stadium if someone stood up to someone for being racist/abusive, that person is likely to be subject to ridiculously over the top aggression and possible violence over 'doing the right thing' I mentioned either in here or another thread about a guy who told a bloke to stop smoking in the toilets because a) it was a non-smoking stadium and b) because there were young lads in there. All he did was get threats of violence in return. Absolute madness.

Age is in no way an excuse, how will ‘experience’ help. Invading the pitch is clearly not allowed, whether you’re 15 at your first away game or 65 and been going to away games for 50 years.
I class myself as a loyal and committed fan, yet I’m put off by certain away games. While the atmosphere is fantastic to be part of, as soon as one idiot starts, loads seem to follow. Including hostility amongst our own fans. It’s literally mental. If it occasionally puts me off, it’s unlikely the casual fan will be interested.
I appreciate away days are a different experience, but we rarely get that sort of trouble at home. Is that because the objective of the majority of fans at home games is to watch the game, not get coked up and kick off with anyone on sight?

Completely agree. Not bothered if people call me boring etc, but there's more and more idiots at away games to spoil it for me. I loved going away in the 80s/90s but not nowadays. Maybe it's just an age thing.
I'll stick to home games, wherever they may be in the future.

Agreed. When my nipper is old enough, we'll be doing the home games. When he's old enough he can go to away games if he so chooses.

It's like going out on a Saturday night, trouble is there if you're looking for it. I've been all over the country with City and taken family too. I've occasionally felt intimidated due to away fans (Cardiff, Millwall, Leeds) but I've never felt the urge to throw anything, run onto the pitch or have a fight. Equally it doesn't bother me too much if others do. The same with smoke bombs etc I've never set one off but actually quite like seeing the spectacle of the blue smoke.
I think some people will inevitably go over the top, with drink, drugs or general exuberance but the reaction seems disproportionate too, everyone getting far too excited at someone else's behaviour. As long as you know right from wrong let them get on with it - equally they know the consequences of their actions and also shouldn't start crying if they get evicted or banned - it's football!

I reckon they should only employ wrestlers as stewards, anybody who goes on the pitch is allowed to be powerbombed.
