We must buid a team around the likes of Sheaf, Torp and the addition of another strong midfielder in that Hamer role. Eccles has shown good form with the occasional mare but overall he is not improving anymore. If he stays it's a bench warmer. That's got to be our ambition.

Tonight showed we lack quility and need a new GK, LB, ACM, winger that can cover both sides and a ST. If we can spend 15m or so in those areas and keep our best players we will be competing at the top end next season.

Barring a final farewell on Saturday for some of the old hands, I don't want to see any of those playing in a city shirt again and add Palmer to the list.

Lati and JDS do have some qualities but they aren't at the level we need to be pushing for promotion. Same for Palmer.

We are in a much better position than at the start of last summer, but the rebuild we have to do is much bigger than we thought.

That's half the squad.

Genuinely think we need King to invest quite a lot in the summer window, I know it probably won’t happen but we really need a better overall squad. We lack confidence and ability in a lot of areas, particularly the midfield where our go-to plan is to pass it around from side to side in the hope that an opposition player slips up.

We definitely have the ability to smash bottom half teams but we can’t seem to do it consistently against top half teams. If we want to be aiming for automatics next season then we can’t just hope we’re going to miraculously come good now the squad’s had a season together. We need midfielders that can dribble at players or have the ability to spot and execute through balls or be on target with their shots at goal. Currently we have a midfield that is capable of none of that.

Can’t see Lati going. New in and versatile. JDS could be at risk but again, new in so doubt it.

Godden, Kelly, Moore, COH and Allen likely to go.

We’re probably 2 or 3 short so we’d have to replace every player who goes plus that. O’Hare, Godden, Kelly, Moore are already going. That’s 6/7 signings straight away. Are we really going to integrated 12/13 players or even more as some are suggesting?

100% agree. Eccles gets a lot of love on here, and some of it is for good reason, he’s consistent, he tries hard, he can do a bit of everything but my massive issue with the likes of him and Kelly etc is that that real top level quality just isn’t there. Eccles had a decent shot at goal tonight but it hit the side netting, it’s great he’s had a shot and shows willing and is tenacious etc etc but it didn’t end in a goal and that’s all that matters at the end of the day. We can build up play for as long as we like and Eccles can be involved in 26,752 passes in a game but if he’s not consistently creating goal scoring opportunities then it’s all for nothing.

And it’s not just Eccles but the whole midfield, there’s no threat or confidence to run into the box when someone like Haji or Simms has the ball and is looking to cross. There’s just no risk-taking or attacking intent, it’s like hot potato with the ball, no courage or gambling going on, it’s all just way too predictable.

No idea why you say Eccles isn't improving. I think he's improving all the time.

Seems to keep getting better.

Definitely one of our best players this season.

Those that are still in contract won't be released unless another team signs them so we don't have to pay them off The squad is already small enough with making it smaller whilst reducing the budget at the same time.. Dasilva especially on his long contract is unlikely to be going anywhere.

Others like Allen will depend on whether we can bring in an improvement and someone is willing to sign him.

That's not to say the club won't be sounding out teams for interest. Somehow I doubt my list will be the same as MR's. For example MR has been looking to offload Bidwell for over a season, but I'd definitely be keeping him as he's dependable. Whereas I'd be looking to offload Dasilva if possible as he's too weak defensively. He also seems to like Lati playing but he's no more than a backup for a few positions.

My list:

Release end of contract:
Bell
Moore
Lusala
Kelly
Stretton

Look to offload:
Collins/Wilson
Dasilva
Lati
Allen
Godden
Palmer
Howley

some of those I'd want a fee for, but between them it'd maybe raise enough to buy one player.

Beyond that I'd be wanting to see significant improvements from Kitching and whichever of the keepers were kept, as well as Burroughs and Tavares getting more minutes.

Not sure what I can reply to that? 🤷🏻‍♂️😂
Like this is a forum and it’s just opinions? Maybe the manager likes Eccles and I don’t? Maybe we’ve got no choice but to play Eccles as we lack proper squad depth?

Just for the record I think we should keep Eccles, I like him as a bench option, I just don’t think we’re going to be getting automatics if the squad doesn’t improve drastically.

Collins kept us in the game with some good saves, I’m sorry but that isn’t the issue.

If you want your GK to play out from the back, they’ll get caught out e.g. Rays v Spurs and Allisson for Liverpool.

The team as a whole just aren’t defending as well. Whether or not it’s tactical or individuals is another thing to resolve.

Latabadieure will stay as will Da Silva (i'll drive Da Silva to another club and pay his wage) and Burroughs will be kept as a squad player id think. Allen i think may stay. The rest i agree with (Binks is a shame but we wont pay £7m for him)

The ones who are saying we only need 2 or 3 are nuts. We need 5-8 players and from what I keep seeing and hearing, we haven’t got much of a pot unless Vik or Hamer are sold.
Future of the club in terms of aspirations probably hinges on Gyokeres (for sure) and Hamer (maybe) sales.

I wouldn’t pay 700k for Binks would probably take him on a free if his wages are sensible

We aren't aiming for the Automatics, it's unrealistic. Doug says the aim is the playoffs and we should be in the mix again for that next season if we can add more quality.
People think the league will be easier next season but I think it will be a similar standard. It's looking likely Leeds or Southampton (Or both) will be in the league along with Shef Utd 90+ points last year then signed our best player, Burnley who got more points last season than Leicester have this season and probably Luton who have strengthened massively from last year. Shit in the prem doesn't mean shit in the Championship.

We need a huge overhaul (almost like last season) if we even want to be in the promotion mix. We look so far so far off the pace needed that we can’t blame fatigue on everything. We have a small squad and half the players stink!

I think Lati and JDS will be here next season.

Collins will be the number 2 …. Last night summed him up …. Some great saves, positioning all wrong for second goal and gets done at near post; distribution eratic. You won’t have a good defensive record with that type of keeper.

We need an experienced centre half to coach Bobby and MVE through matches, and a new LB.

Add a dynamic CM, abandon the 10.

competition for Tats and a Godden replacement and we are not far off …..

Mucca, Collins has cost us at least one goal a game for weeks and weeks now ( Blackburn aside ).

Well this is it isn’t it, sheaf will go to fund it

no way a player (probably sheaf) isn’t going if vik doesn’t

hopefully get 12 or so for sheaf
