Anyone else see a relegation battle next year?

Palmer was on £110,000 a month basic salary at Bristol who matched his Chelsea wages. He turned Cardiff down as they wouldn’t pay that for the last year of his Bristol contract - we did
Source = trust me, bro?

If Bidwell is going I hope we’re signing a cracking left back.

Yep, left back would have been pretty low down on my priority of positions.
Would have been happy to go into next year with Bidwell and Dasilva, and focus elsewhere

If Sheaf has said he wants to go, with 2 years left on his deal, then we're in a far stronger position that we were with Vik or Hamer. Doug King will drive a high price. If indeed that is the case. I don't think he has asked to leave.
We get 10m+ for Sheaf + the Vik money, and Robins will be able to buy 4 or 5 quality replacements. Hamer will be in The Championship next season, and I can't see a Premier League club that will take Sheaf that will not be in relegation battle next season

Not overly worried by the departures speculated.

Sheaf will be a loss but we’re probably at the point we get the best price for him.

Disappointed to see Bidwell leave but Robins has never seemed sold on him and at his age with one year left we probably need to be succession planning anyway.

As long as the money coming in goes back into the club I’m happy. Seems a step forward from the days of interest payments to Sisu.

Do I think we get promotion next season? Probably not with all the churn anticipated but I’d expect us to mount more of a challenge for the playoffs.

I’d only be concerned if he didn’t have long on his contract.
If he’s going, get him sold early for a hugely inflated price so we can pick his replacement.

None of our “best” players have been irreplaceable.

I know our form has dropped off a cliff but some of the doom and gloom on here is ridiculous.

This season we've signed players who are now top 6 quality (Simms, Saka, Wright, MvE) or have the potential to (Thomas, Kitching, Collins, Torp).

Sheaf will probably leave - but if we have a similar hit rate to this year we will improve as a squad.
100% Agree.

The fact we have signed those players onto 4 year deals too is massive as they're going to improve every season.

I personally think Sheaf will be with us next season but he's replaceable if he does end up going.

As long as we replace o'hare wisely and add a couple in the summer I can see us doing well next season - hopefully one or two quality loans to make the difference like Ipswich and Hull have done this season too 😃

As you know I've been banging the Sheaf is staying drum for a while and that we will use Vik money

Thats not correct now. Sheaf has said he would like a crack at the premier league. Which we cannot blame him for of course

With his current value at its highest dont be surprised if we lose him

For me, if we do, that is too much of a rebuild again for the summer

Moore
Kelly
O'Hare
Bidwell
Godden
Sheaf
Allen

To replace, and then add more.
Feel very deflated hearing that to be honest
Of those, Moore does not need replacing and it should be Dasilva going not Bidwell, however-if you replace the other 5 properly, then added in to EMC it’s really just centre back where we’re short. 3-4 loans on top and it’s a rounded squad.

Just a pity that Palmer is set to stay for another year as we need much more from him than he’s given us.

Why is @hamil99 laughing at a factually accurate statement regarding palmers salary?

I’m not sure there is going to be that much of a churn. It’s not going to be a whole new squad like last season.

This summer will be more about adding depth, and only a few actual replacements

Can someone just post me up the teamsheet just before kick off for the 2024/25 season please. Its not pleasurable all this nonsense in the close season.
If I had my way, we wouldn’t be losing Ohare, Sheaf or Bidwell but I wouldn’t shed too many tears if we waved bye bye to Dasilva, Palmer and Allen.
We need a dominant centre back like a young Mcfadzean, a tough tackling leader in the middle of the park and another striker to put pressure on Wright & Simms.

If Sheaf wants to go, let him go. I still think there's two massive questions on this:

1) What is the minimum transfer fee we are willing to accept?
2) Who is willing to pay that for him?

He's a good championship midfielder. Some on here have defaulted him to hero status, but that isn't really the reality. I cannot see who in the PL would be willing to pay double figures for a central midfielder with almost no attacking ability, and the odd lapse in concentration. I accept maybe one of the lower or promoted teams would have him in and around the squad as some of his other attributes are very good, but willing to pay 15, 20 million? I keep saying it, but I think that is romance on the CCFC fans side personally.

However, if someone is wiling to pay what would be a pretty inflated transfer fee, we could invest that really well. Some of our transfer business has been excellent and I would go as far as to say this would be a sale that could potentially make us better if any money we got was used right. Gyokeres and Hamer were vital players. Replacing Sheaf in theory is a lot easier. In the last two seasons some our best runs of form have come with him out of the team, so it's not like we cannot survive without him. Like I said though, any money we get has to be used right.
