Good choices. Think it makes sense to not have a single presenter as there's now so many non-saturday games its not really the flagship show it once was.

Much better option to have a pool of presenters working across both the weekend editions and midweek shows.

Also means its not such a big deal when someone leaves in the future.

Looks like Cates gets to keep her Sky job as well, must have a good agent.

The vastly experienced sports presenter daughters of former top flight players and the man who did MOTD2

All choices you can't fault really.

Yes - it wasn't the case for the last week of BARB numbers because of competition from things like NYE special programming and other Christmas repeats etc. But most weeks during the season it's in the top 50 or higher.

The others I looked at it scrapes in - outdone by Only Connect

Week of Dec 16 - #40
Week of Dec 9 - #47
Week of Dec 2 - #42

You get the idea. Other episodes finish higher; sometimes it doesn't crack the top 50

Not sure what the debate is - as far as sports programs on FTA TV go, it's by far the most popular and the only one to feature on a list typically dominated by soaps, game shows and reality TV.

If you haven't seen all the football highlights you need by 11pm on a Saturday you are living in a cave

Still remember the bleak League Two days where you had to really hang in there till late for our highlights

I would watch it more often if they got rid and f the presenters and just showed the highlights all that fluff is boring, the same for all of the live games I don’t need to see Micah Richards to enjoy a game.

Gaby Logan nee Yorath spent some time growing up in Coventry. All three are great presenters and bring something different with their individual styles.
Lineker transformed MoTD and football punditry in general. Met him once a real nice guy and a top football.

I don't have any TV subscription package (or dodgy stick for that matter.)
I generally try to avoid P'ship scores on Saturday and Sunday and still look forward to watching MOTD without prior knowledge of the results.
Mind you it can get a bit damp in here sometimes and I do have a long ongoing issue with bats.

MOTD I thought might go to Dion Dublin. Thankfully not. He was wittering on yesterday on R5L about ManU losing to Brighton on Sunday because the players were feeling they were not good enough to meet Dennis Law's level and therfore they felt they couldn't respect his memory properly and as a result it meant they lost their focus on the game! You couldn't make it up. :D

He doesn't half waffle some shite. He was ok when he first started as a pundit but he's got worse over time
