It would have been better if they’d won today as Plymouth will have a chance of survival still when playing us

Yeah and now we may have to play them in the play offs after they destroyed us a couple of weeks ago. Can’t get my head around the delight on here

Sometimes with the pressure off teams perform even better. I'm not sure it matters either way if Plymouth are down. They'll be decent at home regardless and certainly improved under their new manager so I'd hate us to be complacent and turn up like we did at Derby.

All their run of 3 defeats in a row proves is we really missed a trick just rolling over for them.

We didn't roll over.
We played exactly the same on Wednesday as we did against them.
The difference is the quality of the opposition.

As I said on another thread today, we made Choudray look like Claude Makele.

We will need a different approach if we get them in the play offs. Lampard has shown he can be pragmatic, and he'll need to do so again.

The key as it has been for a long time is to take Hamer out of the game. We not only failed to do so, we let him run the show.

We don't really attack at pace and we leave a lot of space at the back. As soon as we lose it we're vulnerable.
The chance Pompey had (maybe half chance), just before we scored, was exactly the sort of situation Sheff took advantage of, the difference was quality.

You're right about Hamer, so don't set out with a game plan that suits him and them down to the ground.
I haven't watched their 3 losses, but I'd pretty much guarantee none of the teams that beat them set up like we did.

Trying to cast my mind back to the teams who managed to stifle Hamer when he was here

It was always a bit problematic when teams sat deep.
Didn't mean we didn't often prevail because we had his and Viks quality, but I remember it as something we laboured with.
And Hamer wasn't the only one who gave us problems at Brammall Lane.

But I just think that given we've taken 1point from games against the top 3 we should certainly be considering a different approach if we come up against 1 of them in the play offs.

I don't disagree, but I do also think we just don't believe we can beat those teams so we play into their hands a bit.
