I agree, but I think we do because we often don't turn up against them. I am a bit deflated with the squad issues, we could probably do with rotating 1 or 2 given how soon the game is but there's not much to rotate with right now.
However, I'm over the disappointment of last night's equaliser and think we still get something.

Apart from Grimes' attempted assist.
The 1 moment in the second half comes to mind with a big high ball (iirc from a spooned JDS clearance?) that he let bounce in front of him on the edge of the box. Was eventually dealt with but was a needless heart in mouth moment that Thomas would've just headed clear with ease.

We’ve made a few teams look poor this season because of the way played.
If the roles were reversed, would you want to be in WBA’s position going into Friday? Same with Boro (as things stand).

Last night reminded me so much of Wigan away in 2023 so I had a look at the match thread and it was so much like this one!
One comment that kept coming up is how little depth we had and how the squad was dead on its feet but we still got to the play offs and I think we're in a better position overall than we were then, (though clearly Vik and Hamer did a lot of heavy lifting).
Yeah, our record against Albions not great but it's not Preston or Swansea levels of shitness and we put them to bed this season.
I still think we've got a great chance of top 6.

Struggled past Oxford twice, Derby took 6 points off us, Pompey pumped us and we barely did enough to beat them last week. These performances are what convince me it won’t be this season. And the Derby results in particular are laughable.
Would love us to have a go at the P/O’s but it won’t be us who wins it.

All the teams below will be looking at their results and thinking exactly the same. In the top 6 with 4 to go is a miraculous effort since Lampard came in and we could all but rule West Brom out if we win that one. They must have been a good 15 points ahead of us when they beat us at home earlier in the season (rough guess, not sure how you look at league tables from specific dates.)

Our remaining 4 matches are all tough.
Two against sides trying to get a play off position, though Middlesbrough may have failed by the final game.
Two against sides desperate to escape relegegation though again Luton could have lost that chance by the time we meet.
Gonna be sweaty all the way in.

The only one of our play off rivals to win at Derby or Portsmouth was Millwall who won at both.
And Oxford did the double over them. So if poor results and performances against the teams you've mentioned discount a team from the play off race we're all fucked!

It's been a great season, full of ups and downs. As a Cov fan it's kept us right on the edge of our seat and probably until the last kick of the season too. Can't ask for much more.

Take a look and check the results of the teams in and around us? Boro were battered 5-0 v Stoke, Bristol lost 3-0 v Pompey and WBA have lost to Plymouth.
Last night, their keeper got MOTM which paints the picture that we should’ve won the game. A bit more ruthlessness was needed from Haji and Simms in particular but there was a lot of promising play from us.

If we beat them on Friday, they are effectively out of the race. They’d need a lot of good fortune and a 100% record which they haven’t really put together a winning streak like that under Mowbray.
They’ve got Derby who’ve become one of the form teams (as we found out) and I really can’t see them beating us and following it us with 3 wins on the bounce.

It was a similar game, you're right. Even the late equaliser and then MVE's chance after that was from almost the same position as one Hamer had after Wigan scored.

I would just feel much more confident if we had Thomas and Dovin available.
Our defence has been leaking silly goals all season long.
Just have a feeling it could hurt us, in the run in. Not particularly talking about the Baggies game. Just the last 4 games and then into the playoffs, should we get there.

I do think, with their fixtures, we have to look to win the game and not "just don't lose"
Despite their results recently, they have been creating a lot of chances.
Fans been questioning Mowbrays team selection.
Started with Fellows and Johnstone last week - what many seem to think best - and they won.
Both of those, Particularly Fellows down our left will cause us a lot of problems.

I know your in-laws like to gaslight you a bit. In fact i know what fans of other Midlands clubs are like when talking about Cov in general, but these are the stats i found from their home win against a very mediocre Watford side, which was also their first win in 6.
I don't really like playing West Brom based on historical results and the injury situation isn't great, but lets not fluff them up to be something they aren't. Bet the fans who wanted Corberan gone feel stupid right now thats for sure.

I thought we were good last night. Hull’s goal was offside, and even the Kasey Palmer chance in the 1st half (their only chance in the first half) should have never been, as Sheaf was taken out seconds before.
Simms led the line well, and Wright although far from his best, still looked dangerous. Both could of have had a brace.
That Grimes-Sheaf-Rudoni midfield 3 were running rings round Hull for most of the match.
Felt sorry for Dasilva, as he was probably slightly culpable for their equalizer. He’s really stepped up recently. Won all his duels against their tricky winger last night.
Collins always seems to concede these kinds of goals, where it takes a slight nick and wrong foots him (see Man U’s 3rd in the semi last year). Maybe I am being harsh, but I still think he could of done better there.

A draw be the best outcome maybe? I think that would probably be best, because that ensures Boro stay behind us and Plymouth may just be cut adrift slightly again if the likes of Derby and Hull win. Plymouth could be 5 points behind with just 3 games to go.
If Plymouth won at Middlesbrough, I think they would then really fancy their chances against us on the Monday.
