The Bidwell contract extension is looking like a poor decision at the moment.
Of the four players whose contracts we’ve extended mid-season - Eccles, Bidwell, Wilson and Sakamoto - only one of them would currently be first-choice. Been a slightly odd strategy.

Tats - no issue.
Wilson - no issue, makes sense as back up, which hes likely to be happy with
Bidwell - as above, would suggest that was part of the discussion and keeps senior pro involved. JDS who will be on higher wage and probably higher re sale than JB will be gone - suspect JDS will also want 1st team football somewhere.

Eccles, wasnt it to do with appearances being triggered from old contract., regardless, wouldn't be surprised if he moved on in summer.

I said this for the Hull game , I'm not bothered about the performance { ironic as we played really well in my opinion } just the 3 points.

Should be an intriguing game as WBA need the 3 points as well , I will be glued to this thread as I'm on late shifts all over the easter weekend
2-1 Rudoni and Kitching

As a LB JDS is in a good starting position, the play was all heading down the right until the ever nifty 38 yr old Ambarrat skipped passed Sheaf to open that left side up. I would say that the player is offside and Hull perhaps lucky to get this one un-flagged. The attempt to block the shot was a little tame but overall JDS played a great game.

Looks 5 yards out of position. There is only one active threat which is the bloke behind him. Gives a massive landing area for the pass over his head and he can’t get back. If their CM had advanced and was threatening then he’s ok, but as it is he’s caught ball watching and not thinking about where he is until it’s too late. It’s his weakness, and cost us. Shame, because up until then he’d had a good game

Here's my Thursday message of positivity:

West Brom have won 4/21 away games
Our home record under Lampard is 9 wins and 2 draws from 13 matches
We invariably turn it on in front of big crowds these days

Come 5pm West Brom will be 6 behind and need a near miracle to catch us.

It's on. PUSB.
And add to that 2 of their 4 away wins came last August. Their last away win was last November 😁

3 away wins on the spin at the start, then one more in November. None under Mowbray! Its pretty glum reading for them and despite our injuries you have to be positive seeing that. But then this is CCFC

Just glad we're not playing at their place. Their away form is relegation form.

3 of the 4 hit targets within their contracts for extensions to be made

Yeh it threw me when i saw it as there seems to be some confidence from their fans' side. Must just be arrogance as there's not much to back it up other than the we don't usually do well against West Brom thing.

No it isn't - they are 10th in the away league table

1 away win since September is decent?

Won their 1st 3 then absolute garbage since. 1 away win since September is relegation form. You would have been calling a taxi for the manager ages ago if it was us.

He genuinely has been targeted in the past because of his height. It’s what led Robins to put Kitching at LWB against Luton as one example.

Not the player’s fault, to be clear.
Not his fault, its the person who identified him and signed him for us, seems a decent lad but we need so much better. Someone said on here he played well and just made the 1 mistake unfortunately that mistake was costly but he definitely needs help from the team

What targets is Wilson hitting from the treatment table??

Fortunately, we are the club who always keeps poor streaks like that going.
Things have changed since Lampard took over. We're getting wins that in years previous we would have been happy with a draw. Instead of looking at historical games I'm now looking at more recent form. Feels a bit strange.

That doesn't make sense, why would they need to sign a new contract in that case?

Bidwell, Sakamoto and Eccles all hit performance triggers in their previous contract

Whether that was a certain amount of appearances, goals and assists or whatever i don't know, I just know that all 3 hit whatever target it was in their previous contract, which meant the club had to offer any improved contract to them

If Sheaf hadn’t have been turned like that it would have been okay is what I’m saying. He was only caught by a quick turn of play, positional wise. If Dasilvas deflection went out for a corner we’d be singing praises, unfortunate one. There was actually another very similar occasion first half and he handled it great and went out for a goal kick in the end.
