I would so love that to be his redemption arc.
There is no way a 21 year old with zero league appearances who’s barely even trained with the senior team is going to be thrown in to a Championship playoff race because he’s “a great shot stopper”. It’s nonsense.
He did actually cover the near post, but then they both went straight through him , wer’e back to the early part of the season where every shot goes in, just soft goals again and its down to the same problem, he shouldn’t have played again after the Burnley game

The thing is, Dovin made multiple good saves at crucial points in the game (e.g. 0-0, 1-0). I have yet to see Collins do more than the bare minimum catch at an important moment. The first and second goals today seemed to phase through his body.
Our defence at this level is ok, not great, not shite, but with him in goal it falls of a cliff.
Again. I don’t hate him. I respect anyone who pulls on the shirt for City, but his time really should be up now. Wilson is serviceable and deserves the minutes at this point.

I think Collins looks so fragile in confidence - I think Wilson has to start against Luton ...but not sure he will....however has to be said that the whole team were dreadful today.

I think he needs taking out of the firing line as much for his own good as ours. Potentially we might see him absolutely crumble. The fans are right on top of you at Luton and one big mistake in front of the travelling fans and he'll be able to hear everything thrown his way. I think far too much is made of Collins being better with his feet, his job first and foremost is to keep the ball out of his net, how often does he make a pass that you wouldn't expect every player right down to Sunday league to make, and Sheaf and Grimes are both good enough to collect the ball on the edge of 18 yard box and get us moving with their passing range.

Wilson is a terrible keeper but even I have realised by now that he's probably our best bet at this point. He's played in the play offs at least.

Collins distribution is the only asset i see him have as a gk. He lacks aggression, anticipation, decision making, agility, positional awareness as well as communication. In fact he looks petrified unless its a pass back. He is completely shot and needs saving from himself, in my opinion it would be cruel to keep this idea up that he is a championship level keeper.
I don't doubt he cares and is probably a decent lad who works hard. I just don't think its enough to keep him in. I hope FL not answering about individuals is an indication that he is about to make changes to GK and who starts up front or even a system change for Luton.

Sad to say it, but if Collins leaves us, he’s lower Scottish division level or league 2 level. That said, that could be too physical for him on current form. Barnsley did us dirty.

I just can’t remember a keeper that was so shit for any sort of shot. How do you make it pro without being able to stop the ball going into the net?
It’s piss easy to prepare playing against him, just get pot shot off and he’ll jump over them.

Collins should’ve saved the second goal and done better for the 3rd but to be frank, MVE had a nightmare in both scenarios that lead to those goals.

I appreciate that Collins distribution is possibly better than Wilson’s.
However, the primary role of a goalkeeper is to stop the ball going in the net. Collins fails miserably on this primary role.
To keep picking him means we have to score 3 goals every game to get any points.

Of course. There’s an unhealthy obsession on this board to nominate a scapegoat at every opportunity.
MVE is one of our best players and I’m a big fan, but yesterday was possibly his worse performance for us since he joined and was a liability yesterday.
Every single goal that’s conceded will have 2-3 (or more) reasons why it happened.

Wilson has also been a poor shot stopper since his golden glove winning year. Both keepers are unreliable.
If it wasn’t for a freak ACL injury, neither player would be near the starting lineup. Given Dovin’s injury, we will almost definitely sign another GK in the summer.

I think he’s probably better than Wilson generally but given his performance at the end of last season and throughout this he is completely unselectable I’m afraid.
His lack of confidence - and the resultant lack of confidence in him from the rest of the team - leads to overcompensation (his two rush of blood expeditions for both the Burnley goals) and the near certain knowledge that whatever he does in the next five minutes he’s only seconds away from the next calamity.
The third goal yesterday - a decent block (off his face/shoulder) but a tame rebound to the attacker was very reminiscent of Portsmouth’s fourth against us. Crucially that sort of stuff just doesn’t happen to confident keepers.
MvE and Rudoni had their worst games of the season yesterday and none of the players looked like they belonged in a promotion chasing team but Collins is past redemption with us I’m afraid. Plymouth’s second goal doesn’t happen to any keeper who knows where his sticks are instinctively and everytime he’s beaten at the near post (even when the major fault lies elsewhere- Hull last week and Plymouth’s first ) he becomes more fragile.
