Yea im aware of that

What im saying is all this 'we only need to beat Boro' narrative is bollocks isn't it?

If we lose and they win Saturday, we will need to have to beat them 4 nil minimum no?
No if we lose to Luton and Boro win, we are both on 66 points with Boro ahead on GD,

Win v Boro by any score and we finish ahead of them on points.

Sorry, just seen this already been said

Everyone getting angry and negative today and get it completely but I'll say this:

Playing teams battling to stay up at the end of the season is the worst thing you can have. Sheffield United lost their the other week and it's basically cost then autos.

It's going to come down to the last game and we'll win

People seem to think Luton will be similar in style to today, I'm not sure it will be.

Yes the are big and strong and will be direct but in the recent games I have seen of theirs they are a much higher pressing team than Plymouth are.

Not sure any of us really want to go into the last game needing a win or even a draw. Not sure we are strong enough mentally defensively to handle the pressure.

We need to find a way to beat Luton and hope the other results go our way, so we can all just enjoy the final game.

But I think it is all going to hinge on that final game. I'm going to start growing my nails in preparation.

We’re in a strong position because we play the most important fixture are home against Boro. Even a draw v Luton guarantees we’re 6th on the final day.

Leeds should beat Bristol so again, we’re looking decent value for 5th too.

We won't win either of the last two games - That is now absolutely stuck on.
So if we do qualify for play off semi's make what you will of the calibre for places 5 & 6 of the Championship.

Millwall or on a good run, but they throw in some good losses as well.
Millwall might not need GD though. They could take advantage of us and Boro drawing on last day and leapfrog us both possibly.
Milwall will beat Burnley on the last day of the season, with the title still on the line? Don't think so.

Well I'm flying back to Bangkok on Wednesday night and will have to watch the last 2 games on TV, as nervous as hell.

I’m feeling very deflated after today’s loss and subpar performances across the board. Aside from the WBA win which was against a team in crisis, we’ve lately looked very toothless in the final third and vulnerable on the break, especially away from home (Plymouth, Hull, Derby etc) and I feel we might be running out of gas. The loss of Dovin and Torp couldn’t have come at a worse time and Collins’ errors are just making matters worse. I fear Luton coukd beat us and think Bristol C could get something from the Leeds game. Millwall and Boro are breathing down our necks and am not sure if we’re mentally tough enough to handle the pressure.

It's still in our hands. We're still 3 points above 7th with 2 games to go.

Millwall are still in it. But with them being 3 points and a GD of 6 behind us and with Burnley away last game of the season it will be difficult for them.

Bristol City have Leeds away next game. That could give their GD a hit. 1 point and a GD of 3 above us.

Blackburn are 4 points behind and would need to beat Watford at home and Sheffield United away to have a chance.

It's just about all over for managerless WBA.

Middlesbrough are still faltering. Sheffield Wednesday got their first win in 7 games against them yesterday. It looked all over after less than 15 minutes when they were 1 up and awarded a penalty. They missed the penalty then lost. If we get a better result than them next game they can't catch us. As long as they don't beat Norwich and we lose to Luton we just need a draw against them last game of the season.

So at best we will be safely in the playoffs after our next game. At worst, we need to beat Middlesbrough at home. In the middle a draw against Middlesbrough will do.

We are in an excellent position.

Okay, so we lost yesterday. That's another game down though and we are still 3 points ahead of the side below us, with just 2 games to go.

That's an absolutely fantastic position to be in.

Even just 2 draws will probably be enough to secure a playoff place.

It's very much in our favour and under our control.

We certainly are. I would have settled for us being in this position anytime during this season, even before a ball was kicked in anger yesterday included.

Add to this Sheffield United falling apart and picking fights with their opponents after defeats shows they're losing the plot. It was only last month they were clear at the top. 4 defeats from their 5 games since we lost to them.

The pressure seems to have got to everyone except for Leeds and Burnley.

I’m actually reasonably confident of getting something at Luton. There is just something poetic about us basically relegating them after losing out to them at Wembley.

I’m more worried about Boro but being at the CBS is a hell of a lot better. We play great football at home and the fans would drag us over the line.

The bookies are looking favourable at us too.

Not much point us qualifying at all if we can't handle pressure.

It’s not bollocks at all. We’re 3 points ahead of Boro so they can overtake us on GD ahead of May 3rd. A draw v Luton ensures we start the final day in 6th and Boro need to beat us.

If we beat them, we overtake them. GD will not matter.

I think the Maths gymnastics being done to work out how we can get into the play offs by being a bit shit (including myself) speaks volumes for the lack of belief around actually getting promoted. Definitely feels a lot difference confidence wise than 2023. Regardless it remains a good season overall.

Sheff Utd can’t buy a win
Sunderland are all over the place
Bristol can’t get it over the line
Boro throwing points away

It’s end of season nerves and we’d stand a decent chance against anybody in the playoffs.

I'd agree in a one off game but my confidence over 2 legs isn't so high

The 2023 team was being carried by not just one but two cheat codes, and didn’t have Ronald McDonald in goal.

Completely agree, we just need to get in there.
Not conceding every shot on target would be nice though.

Ok smartarse. Even if we lose to Luton and Boro win, we go into the final day 7th on GD where a win against Boro ensures we finish above them on points.

So yes, Boro is, and always been, the ‘must-win’ fixture.

I'm reasonably confident as well. Luton won't be the same kind of game as Plymouth. Yes they are physical and will be direct but they get up the pitch more and press higher meaning there is more space in behind them unlik ethe low block teams we struggle with.

Considering the season is apparently over and we're getting nothing from the next 2 games, at this point we'd go into the play-offs with zero pressure.

I'd be incredibly disappointed to think that we would feel no pressure in the play offs.

We need to get some belief in the next 2 games not fluke our way in is how I see it
