Like I’ve said , we’d be no worse offIt would be suicide to put a youth goalkeeper with zero experience of league games into the atmosphere at Kenilworth Road
Collins was a huge part of our defeat yesterday.
Punching from under the bar instead of catching shows a player absolutely devoid of confidence and whose bottle has gone.
He needs dropping for his own sake as much as the teams.
He wasn't the only one who cost us yesterday, but he is the one who consistently costs us.
So what? How does that affect us? If Collins is anywhere near the first team next season then we've royally fucked our summer recruitment.I highly doubt that FL will change keeper for Luton. If he did, it would absolutely destroy Collins and I just cant see hm doing it
Because he's a manager who cares about his players and their well being. Weird, I know.So what? How does that affect us?
So caring about a player is more important than reaching the play-offs? Fuck me I've heard it all.Because he's a manager who cares about his players and their well being. Weird, I know.
Lati needs to stop the "look ref, I just got pushed in the back" trick every time he's put under pressure. It backfired at Norwich and it could easily happen again. It's annoying and dangerous.
See, I don’t think the management will see it that way at all. The defending was inexcusable and entirely preventable.
Don’t take this as sticking up for Collins because he could’ve done better with all the goals. We have conceded Comedy Central goals all season with 3 different keepers. This team has a habit of putting itself under pressure and/or shooting itself in the foot with mindless defending.
The braying mob of footballs needs its scapegoat for every goal because it’s convenient. The reality is that we either didn’t mark up or clear our lines properly and in the case of MVE and other goals this season, just gave the ball away in compromised positions.
Collins probably won’t be here next season so I’m not really bothered about him. I’m more concerned with the players we do have that make the same mistakes consistently. A snippet of this was on when Lati tried buying a foul, it failed and it lead to a half chance for them. This is exactly what happened v Norwich for their winner.
He was doing it yesterday too. Drives me mad.He did it against WBA and luckily got the FK, but had it not been awarded, their striker is through on goal.
He defends like a RB who’s playing CB and it worries me.
So caring about a player is more important than reaching the play-offs? Fuck me I've heard it all.
I'm not big on stats but even I can see Collins is miles behind any other keeper in the league. He's a laughing stock, other clubs have forum threads about how bad he is and he is literally a meme.
I think at this point you would only argue against Wilson starting if he had never played in big games for us, or at all for the first team. But that's not the case. He has experience of big games and hasn't fallen apart under the pressure. I don't for a second believe him coming in would cause panic in our defence.
Some people just seem to have a weird disliking of him. Nobody is suggesting he's the greatest keeper in the world or should be our first choice next season but he's got to be the best option now.
But there's people on here who will argue that him winning the golden glove has zero to do with him while at the same time telling you Collins is totally blameless for every goal he concedes and its all down to the defence!
100% agree with that. My point is whether or not a player who surely to god will never play for us again once dropped has his confidence destroyed is irrelevant. What makes us most likely to finish top 6 is all that FL has to consider.Well, that's a dilemma for Lampard isn't it? Whoever he picks on Saturday will need the backing of the fans who travel down there. Whether that's Collins or Wilson then I'll support them.
So caring about a player is more important than reaching the play-offs? Fuck me I've heard it all.
But Collins costs us consistently.
Not arguing about the defending yesterday, it was shocking.
But we're a Championship side, we will concede chances, it's a given, but with Collins in goal it leads to the opposition scoring far more frequently than it should.
It's not scapegoating, it's fact. We have a chance at making the play offs, he may well cost us our place.

Play Collins, especially against a physical long ball side like Luton and we will lose..I get that he will probably go in the summer, but I don't think it's irrelevant whether someone's confidence is "destroyed". That's maybe just me though, just wouldn't wish that on anyone, especially not one of our own players.
As I said, that is a decision for Frank to make and he will certainly - despite your dismissal - think of how it will affect Collins.
Know what you mean but the 1st was dire too: where the fuck were Kitching and Lati!!?? It was Bidwell and Grimes as central defenders!Just watched the goals again, they look worse the more you watch them, especially goals 2 and 3. 3 Collins is just flailing around.
in terms of shots this season
Collins has saved 51%
Wilson and Dovin both at 69%
Dovin will have a lot of 1 on 1 blocks on top of that which both of the others are poor at
Those stats alone are enough for me to get rid of Dovin
In the judgement of the coaching staff, they’ve clearly favoured Collins over Wilson as did Viveash. Wilson has only been favoured by Robins for a relatively short period of time.
Do you think Lampard will look at those goals and think it was just Collins at fault? The answer is plainly, no.
For each goal, there were failings that were equal to the bad goalkeeping.
Take the second goal, where I think Collins was mostly at fault. MVE gives it away cheaply and in a compromising position that leads to a simple winger to striker square ball. If we had a chance like this, you’d expect us to score most times and the only reason it was ‘Collins fault’ is because the finish was pretty poor and the save should’ve been made.
The point here is that we shouldn’t have even be in that situation to concede that chance.
At the start of the season, Dovin was getting criticised a lot when we conceding low xG chances. The same player some considered POTS before his injury. Our defending at times is elementary and that needs to be improved going into next season because it costs us more goals than a bad goal keeper like Collins.
True completely agree. No one picking up the striker for their first goal is inexcusable. And Grimes ball watching for the second goal rather than picking up Hardie is pretty poor.Know what you mean but the 1st was dire too: where the fuck were Kitching and Lati!!?? It was Bidwell and Grimes as central defenders!
I don't know why the staff favour Collins over Wilson. But personally I think it's a mistake.
I have a feeling Lampard may be ready to drop him after yesterday but we'll see.
As for Dovin, yes he makes mistakes, it's why he's playing in the Championship, but there's a level where the number of mistakes is unacceptable and as far as I'm concerned Collins has gone past it.
Not if it’s between that and Collins it ain’t.There is no way a 21 year old with zero league appearances who’s barely even trained with the senior team is going to be thrown in to a Championship playoff race because he’s “a great shot stopper”. It’s nonsense.
Dovin has been pretty faultless imo, with the exception of the Leeds 2nd goal in Feb.
The point I’m making is that the defence has been consistently at fault for lots of things over each GK who has played this season. This is the fundamental thing we need to fix next season to be a top 4 and above side, assuming we don’t go up.
Early in the season, it was Dovin not ‘commanding his defence’ and not it’s the defence not being confident because Collins is in goal… how about the defence just has moments of madness more often than they should? It just doesn’t lead to as many goals.
I have little faith in Collins as a GK, but it irritates me when horrible defending gets let off the hook.

I tend to agree. I don't think there have been too many threads started on MVE and his mistake that led to the second goal.
Around 50% of this forum would play Biamou instead of Simms on Saturday; don't take anything for granted.Have I misread this? Surely you mean get rid of Collins?
He won't, not on his own.We have a chance at making the play offs, he may well cost us our place.
But Collins costs us consistently.

If we don't make it then it won't just be down to Collins. All the mistakes the defence has made and keep making, all the chances the strikers have missed and keep missing, all the times the midfield has lost possession, and yes, keeper mistakes too.
All those things happen consistently too.
Too simplistic just to say "it's down to Collins".
Too simplistic to say it's just down to Collins, agreed, but fair to say he's contributed more than most and to ask why he's still in the team?
Bidwell been poor, dropped.
Lati only playing due to injury and will be dropped when Thomas is back.
But we keep persisting with Collins when there's another option.
I get that he will probably go in the summer, but I don't think it's irrelevant whether someone's confidence is "destroyed". That's maybe just me though, just wouldn't wish that on anyone, especially not one of our own players.

As a fan it is easy to look at decisions in black and white, not so easy when you're the person who HAS to make those decisions.
