I first heard about their injuries during Sheff Weds away, Eccles, BTA and Simms were all managing problems (injections etc). Been a recurring problem for each of them since.

Fair play to them all, if we didn’t have them in February before the other players came back, we’d have been in a bad place.

So for all the stick Simms has been getting, turns out hes been playing with an injury.
All 3 of them were at that point, obviously we were without Sheaf and Wright and maybe EMC? i can't quite remember but we were short and they were all pushing through as they wanted to play desperately.
Obviously Eccles and BTA eventually succumbed. I think the first real rest Simms had was when Wright came back. They're all still being managed, even though they are 'back' from injury.

Provisional outs:
Eccles
Lati
BTA
Bidwell/JDS
Wilson/Collins

Interesting tidbits. Is Eccles attracting interest from a team in our league to above?

I know you didn’t mention a GK specifically, it’s a fair presumption that Dovin’s injury has changed things. The reports linking us a GK were probably not a coincidence given the timing of it.
Yeah, obviously i was told this at Stoke at home so Dovin's injury wasn't an issue at that point.
I believe Eccles interest is from a Championship side.

The next time i see him will be Boro last game. I'll ask him if he's heard anything since the Dovin injury.

Not heard anything about a keeper, but this was before Dovin injury.
You're right, i'm presuming they are preparing for both scenarios, go up / stay down, who's likely to leave etc.

He told me he is certain a bid will come in for Eccles, there has been whispers about this since January, so somebody is showing heavy interest obviously. Whether or not he's in the plans and we accept a bid, i don't know.

One CB wants out, think we know who that is by now. He stills says it wasn't Burnley after him.
One forward player wants to moved on for game time.
Looking to move on one of the LB's to make way for this target.
thanks for heads up, sounds about right.

Interesting re midfield - a chance to get in a creative player and then a real athletic dynamo in midfield if Eccles and as expected Sheaf go.

Just going off gut feeling here, but Sheaf is staying imo, we’ve got a contract extension option so he’s effectively contracted to 2027.

The interest in him won’t be there so his best bet is promotion with us atm.

Could be an interesting summer, i guess a lot will depend on where we end up.
Like i said, unsure if a bid will be accepted for Eccles, he never suggested he's not in our plans, just that he is certain we will see a bid for him.

Forget the stats. Trust what you see on the pitch. A centre forward has two chances to add value to a team. 1) Score goals. 2) Be that outstanding in other aspects that you can get a place even if 1 isn’t happening. Unfortunately for Simms he’s not bailing himself out with either. That said, outside of Wright he’s our best CF, i just think he needs time out of the team.

Fair shout - think its more does he want to stay? Cards in our favour fee wise (obviously not as much as last summer)

Indeed - we are going to have to generate money also, so eccles perhaps / Vik/ likely a MVE/Sheaf

Could definitely see MR being interested in Eccles. Possibly BTA too as he chased him for quite a while.

Created the goal against Plymouth and set Wright up for another

Even if we don’t go up, it’ll be an exciting summer. If we can bolster the defence and get some wingers in, we’ll be in a really good place.

It makes me think someone like Stoke, Derby or Boro would fancy putting in a bid. Robins and Eustace were big fans iirc. He’s a solid player but he’s not better than Grimes or Sheaf imo. Torp has more 8/9 out of 10 games, but also more 4/5 out of 10 performances. He’s probably 4th choice when everyone is fit and firing so it makes sense to cash in if there’s a good offer from a FFP perspective.

Sheaf definitely wants to play at a higher level, his comments on the record has said as much. Last season, he was operating at a higher level and Prem interest was genuine so he probably did fancy leaving for the right club.

Right now, he knows it’s been a bad year for him and with no substantial interest him, he’ll be happy to stay. Especially if we finish in the playoffs because it keeps everyone believing in the project.

With Sheaf, i think it became quite well known about the place, that he wasn't pleased we turned down Southampton's bid for him.
Unfortunately it hasn't been the best year for him. Of the 2 clubs most interested in him, one is coming back down and the other could be heading to league 1, so unless a team that is going up has been keeping tabs on him, i can't see a bid coming in personally.

Not sure on the finances of other clubs, or even what Eccles is valued at, but my first guess was Robins.

Will be interesting re sheaf - we would all love nothing else than a fully fit and firing Sheaf as with Grimes and rudoni thats a bloody decent midfield.

Eccles could be Burger replacement at stoke, who's off I believe. Wonder if he goes after BTA also, as understood he strongly drove that purchase.

Correct, have mentioned before that MR pushed for BTA, Binks, JDS and Lati.
Can definitely see that Burger moving on. I think he is a good player.

Would love to see Sheaf turn it around and get himself fully fit and firing again.

If we can find buyers for Collins, Bidwell, Lats, Binks, Eccles, BTA that’s £5m+ easily there. Plus the Vik money it’s a decent wedge before you get to selling first teamers.

Where do you think Gyokeres will end up, abroad or the Prem? I'd like to see Arsenal take a chance on him.

I surmise that Ellis Simms has assumed the mantle of this month's boo boy.
