At least other clubs are learning from our experience. Good news I guess.

Clever move by the Leicester supporters. Chelsea fans did the same when Abramovic took over, think they sold bits of the pitch to hundreds if not thousands of fans to prevent the Russian or any other owner selling Stamford Bridge, shame we never thought of it 20 years ago we would still be at HR now.

makes sense indeed. if the ricoh was allowed to be offered to shitsu at Joy's price with this attached everyone could be a winner. at the very least it will call everyones bluff. who knows it may be the quickest way to get a resolution

I am sure there are many legal ways to try and tie the stadium to the football club and just as many ways to wriggle out of them. I do agree though that any sale of the RICOH to any company, not just SISU, should have covenants attached. The idea of selling small areas of the pitch or stadium to fans would be brilliant. You only need to have a strip 1 inch wide (Sorry 25,4mm for those under 45) and split into and sold to fans in six inch strips, running around the outside of the stadium and covenant these and the future could be controlled by city fans through a trust.

Sounds like a good idea. If the Ricoh was made a Community Asset it would have the possible effect of killing SISU's interest in acquiring the stadium irrespective of the outcome of the Judicial Review Appeal.

That could lead to SISU actually being forced to build a new stadium (which I don't believe they really want to do) or accepting a fair deal to come back to the Ricoh.

Anyone from the SBT got any thoughts ?

Mentioned this on another thread but its highly likely that ACL will just sit it out. SISU will never get their price. ACL will never sell it to SISU. ACL can try and make up the shortfall from Football revenue and SISU will have to make a decision what to do.

It makes absolutely no sense at all to build a new stadium financially - especially when the local fan base will have dwindled by then!

We can't write off the possibility of a return to the Ricoh. We're at stale mate at the moment. Both companies bleeding money. Both companies of vast interest to the people of Coventry. I don't know how, I don't know when, but I am conviced that we will return to Coventry at The Ricoh to a sell out crowd.

Would anyone trust SISU to not try and find a way out of anything put in place to protect the club if it didn't suit them. Down here Fratton Park has some restriction on it that it can only be used as a football ground to prevent an owner selling it off but the idea was floated that some of the potential new owners just wanted the land and would wind up Pompey voiding the restriction as there would be no club to play there.

Whatever is put in place there's always a chance there is a way round out and even if there isn't what happens if SISU keep running up the councils legal bill making challenges?

If something along these lines were tied into a covenant that ensured the 'community asset' was always linked with the sports team and that it benefitted always from the revenue it created itself then even I would consider the sale to SISU as a possibility.

We need to make sure that if and when we go back to the Ricoh the first job is to do exactly what the other clubs are doing and no doubt we will be given approval after what has happened
