Oldham’s home shirt collar is the same as on last season’s third (two-tone) kit, so I’d not expect us to use that. Of the two options I think I prefer the (mostly) rounded collar, but neither blows me away. I’d love a simple V-neck, but that’s probably asking a lot…

My guess is because these aren’t legit, but made by the booming trade in reasonably accurate counterfeits. I’ve never seen a yellow/black check design before, so it could just be speculative. The lack of detail on the collar is crucial: the real shirts incorporated check all around the collar...

Very generous offer, but if it's the same kit I think I'd rather let another collector have a pop — I'm trying to collect as broad a range of kits as possible, but I don't think I need to double up just yet!

I think there’s a clue in there if you look for it; younger generations also weren’t alive when all of the things you mentioned were commonplace, and so the baseline against which they’re measuring their own happiness isn’t a valid or appropriate one. Or do you think people in the 1950s should...
