Methuselah looks like a kid to me.

    Transfer Rumour Matty James

I hope this happens. Every signing is a risk but I think his experience would be invaluable.

    Rudoni …?

Absolutely! Hamer, Gykores, Wright and Simms weren’t instant hits.

    New Formation?

It’s not a bad shout but (a) I would, for the time being, continue with Simms up front alongside Wright and (b) I reckon Bassette could be worth trying in the hole behind the strikers. This latter position might also suit BT-A. We will never know unless MR gives it a go.

    Rudoni …?

I think in time he could be as good if not better than O’Hare. We need to find the best position for him (see my previous post above) and play with a formation which gets the best out of the players we have. We looked good in the first half of the league game against Oxford when we played with...

    Rudoni …?

I think he will prove to be a good player. It is early to make an assessment but I agree with those who say that he needs to be lying deeper. In my opinion his best role will be picking up the ball from the defence and then moving the ball forwards at pace to set up our attacks. With better...

John Fleck is an interesting thought, if he is fit enough. I know he has had injuries over the last year or two. He was a player I really liked when he was with us. I looked him up and was surprised to see that he only turned 33 about a week ago. I thought he would be at least a couple of years...

    Robins

If we are in the same position in January then there is nothing to lose by waiting until the summer because we won’t make the playoffs anyway. It would be reasonable to see if MR can turn things around if we can get the player reinforcements that we need in the January window. All bets are off...

    Tats

We could put Lati or Eccles at RB but, as I said, I prefer MVE there rather than moving him to RW.

    Tats

Let’s see if I can get this thread back to football and Tats in particular. Raphael is the cover for him but as you know he is out injured as well. A lot of teams will struggle if they lose both their first and second choices in a particular position. I reckon Bassette or BTA could play there...

    Robins

It’s not impossible of course but I think MR will bring about an improvement in form before then. Hopefully we will strengthen the midfield in January and then see how things go from there. I don’t see King as someone who will make a knee-jerk reaction. Equally, I do think he is someone who...

    Robins

I would select a similar team, although I would pick Wright and one of Bassette/Simms/BT-A as our starting strikers. There are arguments to be had about whether Kitching should start but I’m not unhappy with your choice. I certainly think this formation would suit us better, principally by...

    Robins

I think Doug King is the best person we have had running the club since Derrick Robins, although not many of you will be old enough to remember him. Of course we all want success on the pitch, no-one more than me, but King’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the club has a sustainable...

I’m not sure that I understand your point. If I was ten stones lighter, six inches taller, fifty years younger and was good at football I’d be Haji Wright. 😊

    Early days but basics lacking

I totally agree. I also don’t get why we don’t use MVE’s long throws a bit more. Not to be overdone but it can be a useful tactic.

Which shows that we have not lived up to expectations. It’s still very early in the season, so let’s hope we can get back on track. 🤞

I think Haji Wright has been one of our better players this season. Simms hasn’t achieved much but in fairness to him he hasn’t had great service.

We’re not. Most of the bookmakers have us down to finish outside the playoffs.

Match Thread Coventry City - Norwich City Match Thread - Saturday 31st Aug

Despite our recent wins against them, Oxford are a decent side. They are in the top third and The Blades only need a draw at home to Watford tomorrow to consign us to the bottom third. Oxford beat PNE, a side we hardly ever beat, 3-1 this afternoon. I do think we will finish above Oxford in...

I disagree. It was most definitely a poor performance but we need to lift the team not get on their backs. That will just make their heads drop and won’t help to improve the performance level.
