I’ve wondered about the psychology of penalty shoot outs, specifically managers asking players if they want to take one.
I’ve wondered if it might be better if managers picked who would take them, then if they miss it’s on the manager. Might take some of the pressure off afterwards?
I dunno.
I’ll pass it on! Although he’d likely use it as further evidence of Pompey’s shortcomings…top of the table Pompey’s shortcomings.
“Ipswich have got 4 ex Pompey players playing for them. They didn’t do that for us”!
It really is an incredible record. Strangely I hope they don’t beat us.
The old man keeps pointing out that they got their solitary point against his team, Pompey. He takes pessimism/curmudgeonliness(?) to a new level.
I must’ve seen a couple of those. I have vague memories of a blaster from the edge of the area…although again I may be mistaken…and an audacious lob over Ray Clemence at Wembley….
I think it’s fair to have 5 defenders when we play 3 at the back. More worrying for me is, given the amount of money we got for Hamer, why was it a choice? Surely we should’ve been able to sign both kitching and the midfielder?
