I had another son who died as a baby,so fathered 3 sons. Add to that 3 step sons and a step daughter, so a fairly large brood. Youngest popped round tonight, and he's now 36. Years have flown by !
It's a senior thing, you'll be going into a shop not knowing what you went in for. Recently a customer asked me why I had come to clean her windows, as I'd only cleaned them 2 weeks ago, her house is monthly ? I joked I was winding her up,but I'd forgot. She made me a cuppa though !
Was such a great game and I now feel ungrateful in not remembering how the scoring went. Nurse don't let Rattles near his ladders, he's not safe to be let out !
I was there that day and even though I'd had a good drink I watched us make a great comeback. But because of the comments I thought maybe I was wrong ? To make sure I googled it a couple of times and it says Norwich were 3-0 up.
No it was Ryan who's penalty was saved by Blyth. We always say it was a Boxing Day game but in fact it was played on the 27th. Load of us arrived straight from the pub still half cut from the festive drinking just in time for the kick off. Freezing day but what a match !
The 5-4 Norwich game has to be the stand out match as it had everything, one of the most exciting games I've seen and never to be forgotten. Another that comes to mind that sticks in the memory was us against Liverpool Boxing Day 1967/68 season, and they were riding high in the division as...
Been on the round today and as it is a strange time wasnt expecting much cheer from customers. So I was pleasantly surprised to find all of them chirpy, and came away with a nice tip from each house, including cards and the odd biscuit assortment tin from a couple of my older customers. One chap...
That generation were tough and stoic and just got on with it all. But I find this time weird to be honest, very strange and surreal. But like our parents generation and those before we will adapt no doubt, and just take it as it comes.
At least I can get out on my round and get some fresh air...
Been watching the news and doesn't fill you with optimism does it ? Can't go to the football, go to the pub, rules, rules, rules, one step forward, then one step back. What a strange time we are living in never known anything like it.
My sister has got 4 grandchildren and she says she worries about their futures. I'm grateful for the decades I was brought up in now, but I took it for granted.
Before the both of us pop off and leave this mortal coil, let's hope we get to see us back in the Premier League. With Robins in charge I reckon it could happen, he's doing a great job nevertheless.
Decked out in sky blue and sporting a big rosette, and clicking our wooden rattles. Down the front of the Spion Kop,with my dad and his mates stood further up the terraces. Like a scene from The Fast Show ! Great days.
