Well that's a great slogan for attracting investment and visitors to Cov.... "Coventry... its better than Middlesborough and Luton"

For a city of its size its pretty poor imo. Has all of the negatives of most large cities, and few of the positives. Pains me to say it, but of all the large cities in this vague region.... Leicester, Birmingham, Nottingham, even Sheffield... its got the least to offer.

Weren't our away fans loudly proclaiming that "Birmingham get battered everywhere they go" just 3 days before.... (is that everywhere except Cov???) I don't think we can take too much of a moral high-ground when it comes to songs sung at home fans...

Funny how much we "despise" Sunderland for referring to everyone who doesn't get 30000 every home game as "tinpot". Yet one decent season in the championship and we're all at it...

    Bournemouth attendance

Can't really knock Sunderland, getting 33k at home in the 3rd division. Its really tight for the playoff spots. I doubt that a loss puts them out of it. But a win against Plymouth certainly makes them a favourite to make a playoff spot. Its in their hands although Plymouth and Rotherham to play...

    Athletico Madrid

It is rather amazing how the Italians/Spanish etc were regarded for decades as "dirty bastards" "cheats" etc, for diving, time-wasting, etc. But now the English are equally proficient at it, its now referred to as "the modern game" / "good game management" and so forth. Can't be saying anything...

    This season

Got to agree with the original post. There's clearly a huge jump in terms of matchday experience between the lower two divisons and the championship. But the jump from championship to Premier League is barely recognisable, save for the very top teams. There's arguably a more inspiring set of...

    Chelsea

I've never subscribed to this. The top English teams in Europe have a low amount of English players, invariably non-English owners, generally more concerned about their "global fanbase", and collectively tried to bin the rest of English football for a European Superleague not too long ago...

    Running

Club night was 12 x 400mtrs with 1 minute rests. Still heavily fatigued from the weekend, i did alternate reps, giving me a good 3-4mins between each one to recover, loosen up and do some drills. Started slowly, building up to about 80% effort by the final few. Would like to get some harder...

National 12-stage Road Relays on saturday. A number of teams were depleted. We had a good start and were hovering around the 20's-30's for the first hour, but as we then relied on our "squad runners" in the later legs (myself included), we fell back to finish 50th. Leamington looked to have...

The perils of judging a team after playing them once. They're clearly in the playoffs at this stage of the season because they deserve to be.

Was my first instinct watching live. Haven't seen a replay but i guess the cross either travelled backwards, or O'Hare was behind the ball when the cross came in.

Are we getting a name for ourselves off the pitch?

It did. A carry over from pre-season. Also as someone else mentioned, at the Luton match, which i think was the 2nd home match there.

    Running

Building up for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Race at the end of the month... Went over to Shropshire to do a 12 mile/4100ft training run that i last did just after the first lockdown ended. I was in decent shape then, and obviously raring to go, so my 2hrs21 back then seemed a tough target. Went...

    Lessons Learnt?

Only time i've ever left early was Burnley away, either shortly before or after we beat Manchester United at Old Trafford (2006 or 2007?) 2 down, abysmal performance. Heard two roars as we walked up the street away from the ground, and Adi Akinbiyi had scored another two in injury time to make...

Was the Midlands 12-stage Road Relays at Sutton Park yesterday. I didn't attend this year, but the Cov Godiva ladies recorded a famous victory! Men's race, Notts AC and Bristol & West were first two as usual. We were about 17th or 18th with a depleted team (usually challenging for top 6...

    Without actual net investment

What defines us. Sheff Utd or Hull? Most likely we're somewhere in the middle. A team on their day who can roll with the best in the division, but frustratingly inconsistent, which means we'll not grind out enough results to make it. That's pretty much exactly where we are right now...

    Goal or no goal

I must admit watching on tv i thought it was in... similar to O'Hares first goal on saturday, i did think it had clearly gone over the line. Although its largely irrelevant.

Match Thread Hull city (H) 16/3/22

I agree. I've said for weeks that we'll fall short by 6 or 7 points by the end. But the further we go with it all to play for, then suddenly we might still be there with 4 or 5 games to go. It's the hope that kills you!!
