The Canal is already an adequate "green route" to the centre tbf... yeas it's a bit run-down in places scenically, but gets plenty of traffic, i run on it a lot and there's a lot of people use it. It's being upgraded currently, and pretty much now all hard surface all the way out to the Greyhound.
In an ideal world i'd like to see the Canal Basin re-invigorated and become the "arts hub"..... and i wonder if the Ikea area would be of sufficient size to become a higher-end retail centre like Highcross Leicester/Bullring? Whether there is the appeal to higher end stores i'm not sure.
I've entered a road half-marathon in October, my first ever (i can count the number of road races i've done on one hand, with the exception of the Midlands and National Road Relays for Godiva, and of course numerous parkruns).
Although it's in the Lake District and has 1700ft of climbing, so...
I'd say until it no longer causes an issue... could be healed up in a couple of days, maybe a little longer. You can get specific blister plasters to allow you to continue, but generally better to just let them heal.
I've got similar... did 16 miles yesterday and my sock must have been a...
Whilst i totally understand your point... this is a major reason why i just can't be arsed with football at all any longer.... diving/VAR,"game management"......... all a sympton of money taking over the game and being all-important. CCFC was everything to me growing up, but having got into...
Didn't we go into the first part of the season with an "attacking attitude" to games, getting beaten left/right/centre, leaving all the experts on here to suggest that we start playing defensively. Which we are now doing, and are still above the (hopeful) target of around 1pt per game to keep us up.
How you rate it is all relative...
It's equivalent to around 23:30 for 5km... a lot of people who run regularly won't be able to manage that and you'd be in the top 15-20% of most local parkruns.
It's certainly not to be sniffed at...
That's very impressive to keep the training up during the lockdown, and also to post such an impressive time in a "time trial"...
My pb had been 18:34 since about July19.... however this time last year i was way off that, my last parkrun was Jan20 and i was 19:26.... one positive of the...
I did 15 miles today, very steady 8min/mile all the way. Bedworth-Greyhound-Longford-HighfieldRd-Centre-Butts-FourPoundsAve-MoseleyAve-BeakeAve-Bedworth....
Strong headwind all the way back from FourPoundsAve made it an unpleasant second hour.
Really don't understand the desire for some people to try and convince everybody else that we are in "serious trouble", "doomed", "fucked", "right in the battle", and so forth.
Everyone can look at the table and see what the situation is... we are right in it, and we are on a tough run of...
To be honest when i'm going for a fast 5km i'm looking for a time, not too fussed if it's boring or not!
I did my last 5km effort on a loop near the Water Tower which was very good... although yes could be seen as very boring!
I've done several "Bedworth Parkruns" since this time last year... I do 4 laps of the upper loop, plus a little bit extra, gives 5km without doing the bottom section. Which i believe is the route they use on the "unofficial sunday 5km"
It's still quite tough though, even those twists and that...
6 x 1km with 1 minute rest.
3:30, 3:32, 3:32, 3:36, 3:37, 3:37
First time for a while that i've really cut the rest periods down, and it shows, started a little too fast and couldn't hold it.
It's no worse (nor better) than many other similarly sized towns.
The biggest shame for me is the town centre... when you look at it, with the church at the top, the Almshouses, and the Miners Park nearby, it could really be a lovely town centre... but the ugly arcades and precincts full of...
Post #2 of the entire thread is a good starting point...
Besides which, there's a whole host of reasons out of Robin's control which might affect whether we can make the signings he may or may not want.
