    Not using Cash since lockdown

I've been living in the city centre before coming back home. And there was a bloke always sitting by Tesco Express asking for money. I gave him a quid one day and I stopped to chat with him. Found out I knew his brother ! This chap was put in a hostel in Solihull but wanted to come home to...

    Not using Cash since lockdown

The butcher in Bell Green is a great bloke. I've known him for years but only go in there occasionally to have a chat. But what I've noticed about him is that he's never ill. You can guarantee his shop will be open come what may, and he will be there behind his counter. As I'm back in Bell Green...

    Not using Cash since lockdown

I'm still using cash. So used to it and in my work I get paid straight away no messing about. But I can adapt to change pardon the pun, and if we have to use cards etc so be it.

What are you currently listening to?

I was looking through my vinyl collection yesterday, and in there was Elegy by The Nice. I will play it later as haven't heard it for years. I agree Emerson was brilliant.

What are you currently listening to?

Been asked on Facebook to pick ten albums that have influenced my taste in music ? Rockblocks are tricky to compile but this is hard as well. You have to choose one album a day for 10 days. I started day 1 with Fire And Water by Free. Day 2 I chose Led Zeppelin 2. Not sure which one to pick for...

    Friday nights tipple

Back to Bell Green. Just been packing to return. 10 weeks away been at my son's flat , then the Premier Inn, and now city centre place. Gone quick really. Got me finally down for a new place soon though, told me I'm second on the list and entitled to good choices. So hopefully I get a decent...

    Friday nights tipple

Haven't had an alcoholic drink in 8 weeks. Just can't get motivated to drink away from the pub. Don't feel any different mentally or health wise, but have saved a few bob. I'm still living in city centre but return home next week, but with pubs closed there's no temptation, yet if they were open...

    What Books Are You Reading?

Got 3 books on the go at the same time as my concentration level is up and down. Usually I can read one book no problem, anyway the 3 books are : Inside Broadmoor - stories and history of the place and it's inmates. The Hard Way - Ex SAS soldier Mark Billingham's life in the armed forces. And...

    Book Writing

As you are going to write a book, I spotted a competition in the Daily Mirror yesterday. It's for budding crime writers or a fictional story, and a top prize of a grand and 250 quid for 2 runners up. Words up to 2,500 So it's a short story competition. I only write true stories , but all types...

    Book Writing

Houch on here has written a book on his childhood etc. I've read it and it's very good. As I write football articles for 2 magazines I too am going to write a book eventually. I've got plenty of material to write about and not just football. Good luck anyway.

What are you currently listening to?

Done another Rockblock. This one is 20 rock tracks all under 3 minutes long. Enjoyed playing them all to make sure they didn't go over the 3 minutes.

Stevie Ray Vaughan on YouTube doing Voodoo Chile. Great guitarist and another one taken far too young.

    Death List 2020

Could have been Houch. Did you go to the pictures on Saturday mornings ? Think it was the Gaumont or Odeon ? Great time for us kids, recall the films were usually westerns dodgy acting etc !

    Death List 2020

Millie who sang My Boy Lollipop has died. Big hit in the 60's. For those of a certain age will remember going to the pictures on Saturday mornings, and her song was regularly blasting out before the films started.

Should small women enter the police force?

I tried twice to go in there over the years but got refused entry. A friend of mine who has since passed away was in the city centre with 2 of his relatives over from Ireland. One was a magistrate, the other owned her own business in Dublin. Anyway they had a meal nearby and decided they'd go in...

    Boxing Movie

My son is the same wingy. Told me he can't sleep so stays up till the early hours watching the telly or playing music. I've settled down now and am fast asleep by midnight. Whatever suits you I guess ?

Should small women enter the police force?

This reminds me of a doorman outside Brown's some years back. That pub that was really strict and would hardly let anyone in. This little doorman was stopping everyone from entering, me for having tattooed hands, and a mate just because he looked pissed even though he wasn't. He looked about 15...
