    Old expressions your parents/grandparents used

No my dad was born in Northamptonshire, then lived for years in Rugby. He was from a family of 9 raised on a farm, so maybe it is a rural saying ?

    Old expressions your parents/grandparents used

My elderly Uncle Jack who lived in Walsgrave would say to anyone going to the City centre to shop:" Are you going to Coventry ? " Even as a kid I thought that doesn't make sense !

My mum would say to me if I asked to borrow money " you should eke your money out. " Meaning not spend it all at once. My dad would say about a soft footballer " He's a right Jessie. " He'd be saying that a lot at games these days ! "

Phew, That Was A Near Miss !

There were 10 of us in our gang, all piss heads and even the foreman would come to the pub. Health and Safety was Poor, we were told to keep our wits about us and that was it. How none...

Phew, That Was A Near Miss !

It shows when your time is up that's it. To escape serious injury or even death is either pure luck, or fate ? Along with my railway near miss, I've been near to leaving this mortal coil many times. But here I am in my sixties still pissing off my window cleaning customers, even though I came...

Phew, That Was A Near Miss !

A stowaway on a plane fell out and landed next to a chap sunbathing in his garden. Sounds bizarre but it really happened, and it could have resulted in 2 deaths instead of one. It got me thinking about a near fatal incident that happened to me back in the 70's. I was working on the railway...

What Type Of Concert Person Are You ?

Glad someone else went to Monsters Of Rock ! I remember going once and it pissed it down for hours on end eventually turning it into a mudbath. Anyway the 3 of us were down the front waiting for the band to come on stage, when a group of lads decided to start pushing people over, resulting in a...

What Type Of Concert Person Are You ?

I recall going to see Lou Reed at Warwick Arts Centre some years back. It was the most boring concert I've ever been to, my mate fell asleep, and for an hour the crowd was in silence. That concert stays in the memory !

What Type Of Concert Person Are You ?

As Glastonbury is over for another year, it got me thinking about all the concerts I've attended over the years. I used to go with 2 mates every year to Monsters Of Rock at Donnington, had some great times there. But we used to split up after hours of drinking and venture off on our own for a...

Liam was poor I thought and the Killers are just a decent pop band. Saturday night headliners should be Metallica , Foo Fighters or similar rock music.
