Newcastle article also argues the 'he's a number 10' comment in CT. Says he's an out and out striker, used tentatively in the 10 position in first team appearances as too risky at Prem level to rely on him as the out and out goal threat. Read it here...
In the youtube video you can also see him running in behind off the shoulder, doesn't look like a number 10 to me. If he only played that role TM wouldn't waste any of the budget on him!
I'd much rather wait for Prem loans to be honest. TM is very calm and experienced which means no panic buys. I'd imagine we might sign two more and get two loans in.
Willis is a much better defender than Stokes. With those players with Ricketts and Reda who are versatile, how do you justify Stokes in the starting back four?? If Ricketts has the legs for fullback still I'd happily see:
Ricketts---Willis---Pennington---Reda
Remember Willis and Pennington...
This would be a very solid back four at this level:
Willis----Rickets---Pennington---Johnson
Reserves: Phillips, Martin, Harries, Stokes
Loan out: Haynes
I always liked Best, good workrate, holds the ball up, runs the channels and has some pace and power. Would rinse this league, if we could afford him and he stayed fit.
Twice the player Leon Clarke is...
Lameiras signing will take the pressure off Maddison as they will be fighting for the same spot i'd have thought. We desperately need 3 more attacking players; one goalscorer, one pacey, one powerhouse.
RL signing might mean the end for Swanson (who also plays no. 10/left wing)?
Fleck said Pressley never allowed him to get ahead of the ball or run with it. Two things TM clearly asked him to do as he suddenly started doing both after SP left...
I think there is a lot more to come from Fleck if he is allowed more freedom to express himself and take risks
