To be honest when i'm going for a fast 5km i'm looking for a time, not too fussed if it's boring or not!
I did my last 5km effort on a loop near the Water Tower which was very good... although yes could be seen as very boring!
I've done several "Bedworth Parkruns" since this time last year... I do 4 laps of the upper loop, plus a little bit extra, gives 5km without doing the bottom section. Which i believe is the route they use on the "unofficial sunday 5km"
It's still quite tough though, even those twists and that...
6 x 1km with 1 minute rest.
3:30, 3:32, 3:32, 3:36, 3:37, 3:37
First time for a while that i've really cut the rest periods down, and it shows, started a little too fast and couldn't hold it.
It's no worse (nor better) than many other similarly sized towns.
The biggest shame for me is the town centre... when you look at it, with the church at the top, the Almshouses, and the Miners Park nearby, it could really be a lovely town centre... but the ugly arcades and precincts full of...
Post #2 of the entire thread is a good starting point...
Besides which, there's a whole host of reasons out of Robin's control which might affect whether we can make the signings he may or may not want.
That part is not such a bad part of town. Although if you have young children it's worth bearing in mind there's a canal very nearby, and the road as mentioned above can occasionally have some reasonable traffic on it (and fast moving traffic on the Nuneaton side of the bridge).
On the other...
I think the issue with football, people see the money flying around at the top, and say "sort it out yourselves"
When players are getting paid hundreds of thousands a week, i can fully understand the govt not wanting to throw more money at the problem.
Obviously its not that simple, but i...
Quite!
I recall running a Track Mile race in summer 2019, and it remains one of the hardest races i've ever done. I certainly wasn't running anywhere afterwards!
Perhaps my comment should have been worded "it would be interesting to see what consistent pace you could achieve doing several...
Would we have taken this position and the general way the season has unfolded, at the start?
I think yes.
We had a very tough start and kept heads above water. Then pulled away when the easier run came. We are now entering another tough month and need to keep afloat, before shit gets real...
Nice one... 6:12 is fairly shifting.... in the theme of the posts above, would be interesting to see what time you got doing another mile shortly afterwards...
Effectively that's rep training.
Yes it is very difficult to judge pace until you've done a lot of similar sessions.
Obviously it was something from within your training group... but if you enjoyed it i'd strongly suggest setting a number of reps before you start and doing them no matter...
That 94 European Cup final where they destroyed Barcelona 4-0..... They were "finished" apparently, and Baresi and Costscurta out injured.
Dished out an absolute hammering. Savecevic in that game!
My thoughts before these three matches were 5 points was "par"... if we lost one, then we must win the other two.... so a draw would be ok but leave me edgy going into the next few, but a win very good. Must not lose.
Nearly all the bottom teams playing tonight, and six of us against each...
I was there. There was no nuance to it... it was simply because he went to Villa.
(Which was an absolute heartbreak and kick in the teeth, i won't deny).
I don't know what pace we were doing, but given the distance and the underfoot conditions, it felt strenuous enough.
We are very closely matched and had some great battles in the cross-country over the last few years. In the National Cross Country last year we battled 12km over awful terrain...
