You ever been the first person in a stadium?

Northampton FA cup game last season - I got there at 20 past 1 for some reason (gates open at 1:30). One guy opened his gate at 1:28 and I went through. He then got shouted at by the person in charge and had to close it until half past. So I was the only supporter in the Ricoh for a couple of...

    Ratings

I left with 10 minutes to go but I'm assuming there wasn't a lot that I missed (final goal aside). Burge - 4 - Doesn't inspire a huge amount of confidence in me DKE - 3 - He's got something, but he's out of his depth at the moment. All 3 goals down his side. Clarke - 2 - Abysmal display...

    Russell Slade

3 months we took to appoint this guy. He's not improved us in any way. We're playing worse football, scoring fewer goals, still look dreadful at the back. We've not scored in the league since the Bolton game on the 2nd of January. Not only are we playing worse football, it's not even being done...

Yesterday's Victory, A Tactical Masterstroke By Venus?

Rochdale put us under a lot of pressure but how many chances did they really have? We had the 2 goals which were tap-ins, Agyei hitting the post when he should have scored. Quite easily the best 3 chances of the game. Ultimately that's what's important.

    Why won't sisu sell?

The question is what is the club worth to SISU (or their investors). From what I can tell the club is in a lot of debt (10's of millions) to SISU, so they can claim on their balance sheet they have an "asset" worth £40m (or whatever the debt to them is). Common sense would tell you that the club...

    Idiots Berating Reda on Twitter

Anyone with half a brain could see that going back to a former club's ground and describing yourself as being back "home" wasn't going to go down well. There's obviously nothing wrong with caring about a former club, but saying you're "back home" when you go to watch them adds the extra...

    Goal of the Month

Armstrong's 2nd goal against Millwall for me. Just beautiful. Murphy's was great as well. I quite like Reda's as an aesthetically pleasing thump. It's genuinely better than our goal of the season poll from last year.

Anyone going to dare do the ratings tonight?

Burge 6 Phillips 5 Ricketts 5 Johnson 4 Stokes 6 Fleck 5 Vincelot 6 O'Brien 6 Lameiras 6 Murphy 7 Armstrong 5 Tudgay 6 Man of the match was Noel Hunt. One of the best displays from a League 1 striker I've seen in ages. He must be giving 6 inches and several stone to Reda Johnson but he...

    Crewe match player ratings

Burge 7 - did nothing wrong Willis 6 - caught out for their second Ricketts 6 - looked calm and assured, with enough mistakes to make me not very calm. Will definitely play better. Johnson 7 - good battle with Haber Stokes 8 - thought he was great. Could even have had a goal or two. Fleck 9 -...

    Maddison

He plays the way I really want to be able to. Just seems to walk past players with the ball at his feet. Very, very classy.

    Crewe Manager view

Yeah he's not in that weird a position really. From what Davis was saying I was expecting him to be stood on the penalty spot or something.

    Crewe Manager view

Don't think he's saying it should have been disallowed to be fair, just that the ref was stood in a position where he would impede play. The goals are on SSN soon by the look of it - will watch for the ref's position.

    Football League Tonight

It wasn't great, but it generally takes a while for shows like this to find their feet. I'd imagine it will be a bit better in 6 months time. As for highlights of our game being fairly brief, I don't really get that criticism, it's not like we got several minutes of uninterrupted highlights on...

How to win Hearts and Minds

I think the club have done quite well this Summer. Ticket pricing is very reasonable, some decent PR - affordable football for away fans for example. The social media presence has been good as well.

    Gerrard's Send Off

Yesterday summed up Liverpool - a club more obsessed with the hero-worship of one player than they are with getting results. Until they stop being a personality cult and start being a football team they won't get the success they should get.

    Jimmy's Statue

This 'sort of' pisses me off. If feels kind of territorial. A sort of 'this place is ours now' kind of thing. Though on the other hand it is just one idiot who's either a bit ignorant and didn't think before doing it, or being deliberately provocative. Over-riding that though, is sadness. It...

    Realistic good signings.

Jeffrey Monakana impressed me a few times when he played for Preston, and we need wingers desperately. Out of contract at Brighton, only 21. Seems like his development might have stalled a bit, he's been loaned around to a few places this season.
