    VAR needs an overhaul

I know its not going anywhere. I said that above. Doesn't mean people can't say that its awful and should be gone..... we dissect Mark Robins substitutions to the Nth degree on here every week and they're not getting changed in hindsight either.

    VAR needs an overhaul

The Premier League can kiss my arse to be frank. Rules of football should be applicable at all levels. VAR "benefits" (a very dubious claim) the Premier League and continental/international competition only. How can you have a situation where different matches in the same competition are...

    VAR needs an overhaul

I totally agree its here to stay. Doesn't alter the fact it really should be consigned to history. If we accept its here to stay then the entire fabric of watching a game live at the ground is altered (very much for the worse)

    VAR needs an overhaul

I don't even agree with this to be honest. Even if they decided to allow the goal on sunday, the moment has gone. The Simms goal against Wolves was a similar feeling (but to a lesser extent). Chuck VAR in the bin. It only benefits geeks who only watch the game on tv. Yet again no thought for...

    Peter Bankes needs investigating

The issue with VAR is not the individual decision on sunday... in "today's game" (and i fucking hate that expression) it was probably the correct decision, however ridiculous we think the rules are. The problem is the wider issue of what its taken from the game of football.... 1) Rules are...

    Running

Big weekend of racing in the Lake District. Friday afternoon was the trial race for the GB Uphill team for the upcoming world champs in Annecy, France. I had no illusions of getting anywhere near selection, but just wanted a good test on an uphill-only race. Despite running as well as i've...

    Wembley and the London Marathon

It might be sub 2:25 actually. I saw him at training on tuesday but didn't want to ask him about targets as he's probably feeling quite stressed :D

    Wembley and the London Marathon

I've got a clubmate in a similar boat.... although he's gunning for 2hrs30 (and i imagine might be in an earlier start time) so a bit more time to spare! I understand that tubes etc on sunday in/out of the marathon areas can be pretty chaotic.

    Champions League 23/24

Can't understand the support for English teams in Europe. The regular European participants actively sought to ensure that teams like City could never even dream of achieving the right to ever play European football at the top level, only a couple of years ago. Would rather support Villa...

    Running

I'm not familiar with maffetone, but building up a solid base of endurance through "easy" cardio is basically the core principle behind all decent running. Going out and trying to hit a 5km pb on every run is a fast lane to disappointment and most probably injury.

    Running

Big weekend coming up.... Friday afternoon is the uphill mountain running trial for the GB team for the mountain running world champs.... so off to Keswick in the Lake District to compete in that.... really i've got no chance of being competitive as just about everyone else there will have a...

    Villa away...

I struggle to recall any trouble at Highfield Road involving Villa.... but i can't think of a time i went Villa away and there wasn't any trouble. The relegation game was ridiculous at Sick Boy says. The atmosphere in the Rocket pub and in Cov station on the way out there was crazy.

    Villa away...

I went to a Senior Cup game at Nuneaton Boro away in the 00's (can't remember exact year but it was at the old Manor Park boro ground). A grand total of 4 city fans...

    United v Cov Predictions

Similar (but to a much lesser degree) to Mansfield who blew their load against Ipswich, and didn't have anything left against us.... i think we will suffer due to the combination of league schedule, and probably not reaching the highs of the Wolves game, and Manchester United having a bit more...

Aims and Hopes for next season

As mentioned in another thread, things could easily regress..... look at Sunderland (i know they're a bit of a shambles in comparison to us at the moment)..... they would have been fully expecting to do similar. That said, i have the same hopes.... a full season-long attack on promotion...

Leeds bringing over 4,000 allegedly despite only just over 2,000 tickets

Funnily enough, they are older West Ham fans, and Alf Garnett did feature in our discussion!

Leeds bringing over 4,000 allegedly despite only just over 2,000 tickets

No idea. This pub isn't Longford, but is firmly in CCFC territory (without necessarily being a "known" City pub)

Leeds bringing over 4,000 allegedly despite only just over 2,000 tickets

On a similar note, a group of West Ham fans are stopping at a pub, approx midway between the above-mentioned Attleboro Arms and the Ricoh, this lunchtime. They do the same every year on the way to Wolves away.
