Sorry to raise this again / Dale Evans

Indeed. So why go along with the charade? Why not have a quiet word in my ear? Could have saved the whole sorry business.

From memory, no, I don't think so. I did congratulate her on their good fortune however. She was even going to have the chicken run! When his parents arrived for the second viewing I commented on how lucky they were to have their son buying them a house. They were either totally taken in by his...

Sorry to raise this again / Dale Evans

You've made some very rational, sensible and insightful posts. If I could just expand on my experiences? When DE viewed our house I was initially very sceptical. His story sounded fantastical, but also, incredibly, believable. He'd had a win on some football gamble, gone to Las Vegas to watch...

He He has. He's got a son. A nice lad, who came to view our house with him. Even chose which bedroom was to be his when the sale was completed. God knows how this will scar him.

Remarkable. He only had £14,000,000 when he put in an offer to buy my house last September. £6,000,000 interest in 4 months. Or maybe another big win? Perhaps he'll be able to provide my solicitor with proof of funds now....

That's something we'd considered, although he hasn't actually defrauded us of anything (other than time and anguish). Though possibly the estate agent may have a case against him for misrepresentation. But I'm not a lawyer.

I understood that he's local. His parents are here, his son goes to a local school and his wife works locally. His contact number, and address which the estate agents had, was also local. They visited it several times when trying to contact him; needless to say, he wasn't home.

We're in a village called Toft Monks, just outside Beccles on the Norfolk/Suffolk border.

I've been watching this thread, and others, with a mixture of trepidation and astonishment. You see, I find myself in a similar situation to that of your team. A long story cut short; we decided to sell our house in September this year. Within a couple of days, we had an acceptable offer, but...
