24th August - Hoffmans Backers meet the SISU Puppets (3 Viewers)

On CWR they mentioned a couple of times that Hoff and his backers have a meeting with the board. We can only pray that this is the start of the end for SISu's stewardship. If the venue for this meeting is revealed is this a chance for the fans to show their support for Hoffman and their desire to see the back of SISU and their mismanagement of our club.

Why don't they move the meeting forward even if anything does happen AT will have no time to bring anyone in.

Doubt if any deal would be agreed at a first meeting such as this but at least its progress. I am sure its a timing thing for Hoffs backers - I guess its hard to get these busy money men all in one place together at short notice. The loan window will still be open and in the short term this would have to be our chosen route, at the moment we don't seem to even want to invest in that. Players look more likely to be going out than coming in.

I hope they don't reveal the location. The last thing a potentially constructive meeting needs is a sideshow of idiots screaming about things they don't understand.

Any other potential
Investors too?
I'm sure I read somewhere that the Tanned man said he was talking to
Other investors aswell as Hoff and his team.

This date will be too late for any player changes to occur. However i still would like to see a take over happen! End of August is the closurer of the transfer window (usually) and things wont be finalised on this date so all we can hope for is loans!

Just a thought but perhaps the meeting is the result of the two new directors and is to see if there is any common ground or put it all to bed as far as GH is concerned. It may be that they ask the backers to consider investment in rather than purchase of CCFC.

I dont see , his passion for CCFC aside, that GH's plan as reported is any different to what SISU wanted to do when they took over and could lead us back to where we are in 3 years. Of course what is advertised and what is done might be two different things. But i wouldnt bet on a change in ownership happening that soon. Sorry I remain sceptical of all the things CCFC - even if i want SISU to go

Correct. A sideshow of idiots won't help anybody, and could possibly turn potential investors away from the club.

As for the meeting itself, even if SISU agreed to sell up, by the time the legalities were brought to their conclusion, we wouldn't have the time to bring in new players anyway. So we need to accept that with or without Hoffman, the squad we have now is the one that has to attempt to keep us in this league. There may be an additional loan player or 2 come in, but even so, it's going to be one long and soul destroying season.

Snozzer said all along that nothing would happen before this window closed, but Hoff would strengthen with 4-5 Prem loans and 2-5m at Xmas. So no worries, cool beans, all on track

The two new Directors met with other potential investors on Thursday with others planned. I think the fact that GH's meeting is scheduled for later in August should provide proof that GH's investors are not the preferred partners by any means, at least at this stage.

Does that mean sometime soon we may have a pot to piss in, even if its a little pot...... dont think we need much other than a decent striker and an attacking mid to drive us forward.

To be honest I'd rather we strengthen in Jan than have a couple of weeks to get things going and get raped on prices.

Despite the doom and gloomers, having seen City play today I maintain that we are one or two decent players short of an OK side. I know it's not going to happen, but look at the McFadden thread for how many people would be happy with a team with him and ALF in. I could see business like that (a lower league player and a free/loan Prem/ex-Prem player) being done before the end of the window, and that should see us to Christmas as long as we don't have a string of long term injuries.

Bear in mind that the transfer windows shuts on permanent deals. Any hypothetical free agents and loans can potentially be incoming after that point.

The only way they can bring players in currently is if higher earners are moved on, Wood, Eastwood and one other identified as potentially moving on before window shuts.

Eastwood injured and not going anywhere as no one is going to match his wages. Wood needs first team football but will he accept a drop in wages. Watching Leeds that is likely to be Clingan as Leeds look shocking in midfield and they could afford his wages.

Would it be too cynical to suggest that Hoff's guys only wants the deal to go through at the end of August when the window closes so that they can blame the previous regime for the lack of transfer activity? "We had our targets but unfortunately ourshands are tied by league rules"
