Nah....it just meant way more in the era.....the FA Cup was a huge trophy back then.....it hadn't been devalued by the watered down expansion of european football and the over-hyped bullshit of being 4th best, or even just surviving, in the wanky PL that inevitably followed.....
...also, it was even more valued to the teams at the time because the red-shite pricks had got us banned from europe, so it was clearly the premier knock-out tournament in the world at the time.....
......and of course, we'd won fuck all of note since 1883....

Oh I agree the cup meant much more then, biggest game of the season bar none.
Obviously teams that compete at the right end of competitions all the time ( Liverpool,UTD,
Arsenal, Spurs. Chelsea etc,) it's expected, so it becomes almost the norm.
But what about the likes of Southampton, Pompey, Wigan etc, do they constantly reminisce,
