Grendel wouldn’t know a lot about romantic getaways.
I had to work down there a few years ago, I think I stayed on the High St above or very close to WetherspoonsIf you're going to stay at Premier Inn I would recommend staying at one of the new ones. The old one may be closer to the stadium but it's not great to be honest and right on the junction of a very noisy road.
Travelodge is fine though although like Premier Inn, the older one (on the Avenue) suffers from similar issues to the old Premier Inn one above.
A nice place to stay is the Elizabeth House Hotel nearby. You're also not far from London Road and Bedford Place for going out which is nice. Maybe have a roast at the cowherds pub too. Also not much wrong with staying in Eastleigh and getting the train to and from there if it's cheaper.
If you don't plan on staying out really late you could always stay at the new Village Hotel toward Chandler's Ford, as long as you get the No. 1 bus. It's £1 after 6pm at the moment (until further notice). Mainly if you're driving down as it's a bit of a walk to Eastleigh railway station.

I think it was the Dolphin as it goes. The new Travelodge isn't far from there. Did you stay at the Dolphin? It's a nice hotel but there's a bar right opposite that's open late, sometimes until 3am and people sit outside making a racket.
To be honest there are loads of B&Bs in the Hill Lane area (where the old Dell was) that's not far from the railway station, which although not the town side (so an extra walk) will be a more pleasant place to stay imho and probably a bit cheaper.
The old grand harbour hotel although on a road junction, is an okay and very convenient place to stay, it use to be 5* but is now 3* lol after a new 5* hotel (called the Harbour Hotel) opened in Ocean Village. You also have the IBIS the other side of IKEA. All within Spitting distance of the town centre, Just use the West Quay or Asda lifts to get up to Above Bar Street level lol.
Which of the Premier Inn's by name would you recommend? The website suggests 5 to choose from. Thanks
Saints currently 4-1 up v Brentford, and are without a game for a fortnight before they face us. They are a very good side - luckily I'm a 'concentrating on the league' type (unless we win!)
That will be a good win and Southampton are improving. But I also think Brentford have had their little honeymoon period and might struggle a bit second half of the season.Saints currently 4-1 up v Brentford, and are without a game for a fortnight before they face us. I think you're in with a shot, Saints are very inconsistent at the moment, especially with Adam Armstrong and Che Adams misfiring a bit. I'm sure Armstrong will settle in overtime (so much potential, did a great job with you guys too) but it's still early days.
Plus Stephens although very experienced (I mean he played in the League Cup final for one), is not the best lately. Will be interesting to see if he plays as Lyanco and Salisu have been playing well.
I really feel Saints have some decent depth these days, especially in midfield with the likes of Elyounoussi, Stuart Armstrong and Diallo coming off the bench. I mean all of them could make the 'first team' easily. I think Diallo started to day and imo he's the least convincing of those three.
I just wonder whether Mousa Djenepo or Walcott will play. No disrespect to them but if either of those tow play I think that's a good indication we're not fielding a really strong side.
*just looked at Elyounoussi is listed as a forward but much more of an attacking midfielder.
That's interesting really, Walcott's career trajectory, not many players peak at 19!I think you're in with a shot, Saints are very inconsistent at the moment, especially with Adam Armstrong and Che Adams misfiring a bit. Confirmation that we're not one of the live games, which is no surprise. Therefore I guess that means 3pm Saturday or 2pm Sunday. As Portsmouth are away on Saturday and Bournemouth's match is confirmed for Sunday, I suspect 3pm Saturday is most likely.
It was a real shock to see Manure are on the tv again, they could play any team and they would be on.
Yeah thought bit weird some posters saying they will be fighting relegation.Saints currently 4-1 up v Brentford, and are without a game for a fortnight before they face us. They are a very good side - luckily I'm a 'concentrating on the league' type (unless we win!)
Great price but this probably means it will sell out in phase 1. If it’s 2 per ST they will all go in a few hours of going on sale.Priced very reasonably, should be a sell out.

I would have thought that would be very unlikely. The general sale price of £15 is still a bargain though,Wonder if we will get their get their season ticket holder price of £10...
