A fork in the road (1 Viewer)

We're at as wide a fork in the road as I can remember. The two directions for CCFC should Mowbray not sign up are chasms apart. In one direction, SISU can screw this up with Mowbray and it will be the final straw for many of the remaining core of supporters: record low season ticket sales (Sixfields aside), further apathy and fanbase detachment.... or with the right decision they can build on the glimmers of hope that they've recently shown through getting Mowbray in, closing the North stand and providing an excellent season ticket offer. If they've finally started to realise that the fans and the playing side ARE important, even if they're running a tight ship, then they need to build on that by getting Mowbray on a 2 or 3 year contract and letting him run the show as he sees fit.

It has the potential to be a great season next season: Mowbray on a longer term contract, full season back at the Ricoh (seats still blue and matches still on Saturdays!!), a squad rebuilt and handpicked by TM. I don't need Mowbray to get millions to spend and honestly I don't even care if we get promoted or not - but what I do want is a full season where we as a fanbase are united behind a competitive CCFC team on the footy pitch, giving some time for divides to heal, supporters to be won back and to hear Cov fans in the pub after a match talking about Cov players and not stadiums, JRs, Rugby clubs and the like.

I just want to get back to being a fan of a football club I'm proud of, and not feeling like I need to remember what politician said X on what day and what board member lied about Y on which date, to support my view in a cyclic argument with fellow fans that no-one's going to win. And this time SISU have nowhere to hide because the support for Mowbray seems unanimous. In all the previous bullshit there has been some kind of divide between the fans but here not. In fact it's Mowbray who has backed SISU into a corner by publicly stating what he wants - control of the budget, not necessarily an increase in it. And so SISU have to back him or nail their true colours to the mast

If they start to drag it out or start with conditions TM will be sending his resume to any potential clubs looking.. He really has put them in a spot they will not like,, if it doesn't work out for TM here now SISU can't look to blame anyone but themselves and should not be shocked if ST sales are down again... SW and TF should go and wages used to securing TM and bring in a CEO who runs the business with no visions of grander to stick his nose into on the field matters.

I agree 100%. This is SISU's last chance to go some way to healing the bad feeling they have built up, alienating the fans. Secure TM on a decent contract, give him a budget and a free rein, with no interference from SE or TF and then maybe, just, maybe, I may start to feel SISU is restoring some credibilty. If they can't see the wood for the tress and go blindly wandering down the same path, then God help us !

Yes, either we appoint Mowbray on a long term deal, give him some resources and his choice of players and backroom staff (with obvious funding constraints) or we lose him and drift into a position where no other decent manager will touch us with a barge-pole. Either we go up (this is a genuine possibility next season under Mowbray) or we do a Luton or Rushden and drift out of the league. It's a stark choice. I can't see many people renewing their season tickets if Mowbray goes

What makes you think that TM would want a long contract?

And there will always be plenty of managers to choose from if he does leave. A manager has a lot more to gain than lose if he comes to our club. When will people learn that there are a lot of managers out of work? Not all of them are poor/untried. They have bills to pay. And some of them don't even do it purely for the money but for the love of the game. And we are well known for our support. Not so much at home these days but the numbers we take away most of the time. And whoever sorts us out will be seen as a hero by so many.

The problem is will SISU get another decent manager or will it be the usual dross we are used to if they don't secure TM's services.
